I've got a bit lost between all of the threads but if Bolton follow Bury into expulsion then does that mean that nobody gets relegated from league two at the end of the season?
I said this in one of the other threads.
Radio 5live had some bloke from the FA on explaining it all. If one club goes bust, just 3 teams will be relegated.
If both clubs go bust, just 2 teams will be relegated.
No matter what, only 4 teams will be promoted from league 2.
So as it stands, just 3 teams are getting relegated and 4 teams are getting promoted.
Hope this helps.

Assumingly, only 1 club will go down from League 2? Or neither if they both go?

I would imagine the EFL will compensate all clubs for loss of revenue caused by their inability to organise a simple league competition. The cheque will no doubt be in the post I wouldn't hold your breath. Jevans was on radio 4 this morning saying the EFL don't regulate clubs they just organise the competition. Said Dale bought an asset and that the EFL couldn't do anything to make him run the club properly. As far as I know there isn't anything in the EFL rules saying they have to compensate clubs for a team not being able to fulfil their fixtures. The problem gets more complicated with Bolton as they have played some fixtures. If they went out of business the clubs that have played them at home would then have the extra revenue and thus an advantage over the rest of the teams in the league. Its an absolute mess. You probably realized i was being a bit sarcastic. It is though the EFL'S responsibility to organise was fair competition which, clearly, they have failed to do. It was clear before the season started both clubs had serious problems. The deadline for proof of ability to fulfil their fixtures should be 30th June not part of the way through the season. The EFL have completely failed fans, sponsors, the betting industry and season ticket holders. Its not the EFL's direct fault that clubs go bust only ensure that clubs abide by the rules of competition.

Not to mention points on the board from beating a bunch of 17 year olds 5-0 as well. For example, what happens if Tranmere pip us to safety by two points come May? Or even on goal difference by a couple of goals!

First I couldn't get my free pasty, now I'm only getting 22 games with my season ticket. I'm starting to doubt if having a season ticket is worth the money!

I agree with what bristolsfinestever said Bolton should not bean allowed to play any games until the financial problems and the take over had gone through. Now we have a mess some teams have picked up points and improved their goal difference by playing Bolton, I presume if the club is liquidated those points and goals will have to be removed from these clubs. This would leave Tranmere on zero points. The rest of Bolton's games should now be cancelled until the club are sorted, otherwise as pointed out before some clubs who have already played them will have financial advantage. EFL have handled this very badly, their stand in chief exec has made mess of everything.

Bolton have had enough chances to get out of this mess, they should have gone last night Just very lucky that they aren’t a small club like Bury. After the fiasco at the end of last season they should’ve been gone before Bury.

What league would Bury effectively be placed into now? They’ve not been liquidated just yet? Sad scenes all round. Next season they can apply to enter the 7th tier of below. they will lose their ground to developers You may well be right, but why do you say 7th Tier?
From what I can tell, clubs expelled from the National League System can rejoin no higher than 2 steps below where they were when they were expelled, so Step 2, which is National League North (old Tier 6)

Worse things in the world to worry about, our club is losing money and could do with a few quid extra. After all at least you are not a Bury supporter.

Get the Bury academy manager in to work for us. They have been producing some very good youngsters in recent years.

I'm only going by what happened to Hereford. the National League will not accept any team that has financial concerns. Hereford started in the Wessex League.

Naturally very sad. But I wanted to considered practical implications for us? Mods feel free to merge if you think that this should be done. But I figured as this is a more selfish stance perhaps it justifies it's own thread. So were down 1 match possibly two. This potentially impacts us in many ways: Should season ticket holders get refunded? How will the loss of 2/23 match day revenue affect rovers? Will we get compensated? Has this affected our transfer policy? Does this impact FFP? Ie could we or others breach our limit given revenue has fallen? What should be the punishment if so? The up side is there will be less chance of being relegated, how much is that worth ?, hmm

You are correct they won’t be able to start until next season which will give them a chance to start a Phoenix club and get the finances in order and sort out a ground. I think Hereford went into the West Midlands league, definitely not the Wessex. UTG!
