I have spoken to Tom G and he is behind a minutes applause in the 24th minute on Saturday iro Bury (currently 24th in the league - in spirit).
Would be a good way of showing solidarity with the lower league clubs.
Please pass on to non Gaschat readers so they are aware.

I’m not entirely sure if this is serious.
But it’s a no from me, all the same.

I can't help but think that is totally the wrong thing to do.

There are supporters who die that dont get a minutes applause. I'm not saying they should because well it would just become unmanageable probably. I'm saying Bury shouldn't.

Well until it's resolved, I wouldn't be doing anything of the sort. The EFL are discussing the EFL teams about whether to reinstate them next year I believe - would seem a bit stupid if they came back after all this.

I understand why you’d do this during a game, but I never understand why we have to clap for deaths during a game. Cannot we not just do it before like Agogo (imo the way it should be done). I’ve heard quite a few people getting annoyed about it as it does ruin the flow of the game and to some extend I agree. This post is intended to offend anyone! UTG

On a broader note, I think the use of minute's applause's has become excessive and actually undermines the intention of showing respect to someone or something. A minute silence always seems far more apt, appropriate and respectful. And no, I don't think Bury should get any kind of recognition on Saturday. It's entirely feasible we could be playing them in the league next season after the EFL statement yesterday which would be absurd.

Tell Tom G to concentrate more on ordering the right amount of pies per game instead of this bollox. No offence by the way.

All been said above. Feel a bit sorry for Bury fans but Bury as a club will come back as an AFC club and are in for a different few years at smaller clubs. But it should be fun with a patient attitude. If we clap them are we clapping their owners? And in a sense the issue is still pending with all the talks isn’t it? It’s a no from me as well. UTG!

Bury still exist, they are just in a different league now. Should we do this for every relegated team?

Nothing like applauding financial mismanagement and having a £5m wage bill in L2 on 3k gates...

The only time I agree for a minutes either applause or silence is before a match and in the case of someone who has either played for the club or has been employed by the club.

Would be a good way of showing solidarity with the lower league clubs. Please pass on to non Gaschat readers so they are aware. So we can appreciate their owners running up unsustainable debt and the FA having a completely flawed fit and proper persons test? I agree that the demise of Bury does not lie with the supporters, and as much as I feel sorry for them, you only have to look at Blackpool to see what fans influence can do and perhaps as supporters they didn’t do enough? As a supporters club you should be using your influence as a shareholding in BRFC to write to the FA, EFL and the premier league to highlight the abysmal structure they have in terms of all the things that have affected Bury together with the unsustainable model that is currently in football. Maybe get our fans to petition it and join forces with other SCs around the country to make some workable action. But if you think a minutes applause will do it....but what will that really achieve? Half the ground won’t join in, some will forget even before minute 24 what the applause will be for and once it’s done it will be forgotten about before we get to half time. I don’t want to put another negative bullet in the SC gun but I really do wonder why we bother having a supporters club when the best it can come up with is token gestures such as this. It’s hardly dynamic and a force for anything and another prime example of their being no ideas at the top for anything particularly useful.

Is applauding Bury really showing solidarity? Why should we applaud, as has already been said, total financial mismanagement of their football club.
As for their fans...yes I have some sympathy but I didn't hear any complaints from them on TV etc following their promotion on the back of their financial mismanagement.
I'm sure Bury will be back in one form or another.
The EFL have a lot to answer to and frankly they should have got shot of Bolton too.

If this happens I'd like to know why we didn't have a minutes silence when Woolworths went bust....
