Well JCH wont be in L1 come February and Peterboroughs owner won’t be in the same rush to Let their prized guys go as our owners will be to reduce some debt.
Heard from a decent source yesterday a rumour that the sell on clause agreed with Coventry is a whopping 20% and whilst I would urge to say that is totally unsubstantiated for sure I just sensed “Here we go again”.
That said I trust GC and his team to find another striker IF we need one .. I hadn’t heard of JCH this time last year and I’m confident he will be tracking someone somewhere.

"here we go again" when did we last have to worry about a sell on clause? I can't recall one of any note? Probably Lambert was the only one we had to pay another club any of the transfer funds.
Anyway it would seem a bit odd a club insisting on a sell on clause when they've been happy to let a player leave on a free.

They clearly saw that he had some potential and was coming into his prime and insisted that a sell on clause be part of the deal. Sensible on their part and if we end up selling Reilly, I hope we do the same.

A 20% sell on clause is just the standard thing these days. And where has it come from that we got JCH on a free? I’ve seen a few people say that recently. At the time I couldn’t find anyone reporting what we had paid for him but I’m sure they all said “undisclosed fee”.

I’m just looking forward to his next match winning strike. These social media wind up merchants will have to try harder.

So it's gone from one poster suggesting earlier he's just heard a rumour to now Coventry "insisting"that a sell on clause be part of the deal, regardless if Coventry insisted on a sell on clause there's nothing we could do about it. I still can't see how we could ask Swindon etc for a sell on clause if they take Bennett off our hands in January but I'm not an expert on sell on clauses.

I wasn’t referring to what the other poster said. Taken from a CoventryLive article back in April: “CoventryLive understands that if the player is the subject of a big summer move then the Sky Blues will receive a sell-on fee, believed to be the standard 10 per cent.” You can ask for sell on fees on any transfer providing the player is still under contract. The issue with Bennett is his wages are too high for Swindon so unless that changes I can’t see there being any deal in January anyway.

Two things from that: If there is a sell on clause surely that means that we paid a fee for JCH as I can’t say I’ve ever heard of a player signing on a free transfer and having to insert a sell on clause from his parent club, in which case I wonder what the fee was? Widdrington also brought us Stefan Payne so it could go either way!

Interesting that this thread has become more about when JCH is going to be sold instead of celebrating a Rovers striker who's banging them in !

What a player. Not to randomly slate the Snake as he was an excellent striker for us before "that day" but JCH HAS to be our best forward since Sir Rickie right? He's just unreal, has everything you'd want from a modern striker and minimal flaws IMO.
If Coventry have a 20% sell on clause (standard and believable) then so be it. This guy is easily a £2m player in the current market.

We don’t really have any right to moan about a sell on fee when it was Geoff Dunford who negotiated a few of those but in our favour and I think we have received the most from Scott Sinclairs various moves unless someone knows better.
