Thanks Steve, agree 100% with your report I think this team played a "Lets Get the Manager Sacked" game, much like the last few games under DC You might be right, but then why did they play so well in the half dozen or more matches before the last two?

I hope GC makes the players watch a full video of the match & see the dross we had to endure last night., Bolton a team of experienced players who were either out of contract or surplus to other clubs requirements made us after the first 3 minutes look like a team of misfits. Before the game I was hopeful of getting 4 points from the 2 home games , now we will do well to get 1.

Hi Steve. Many thanks for the report. Couldn’t make it last night due to illness. Sounds like I picked the best time to be ill.

Thankfully missed this latest set back, and boy we have had a few of those!!
I think everything is flat at this moment in time mainly due to so many false dawns/rumours, you name it we have heard it!!
I keep reading about the poor atmosphere at the Mem, is it hardly surprising?
Give Craig the captains arm band, drop Ollie and pray Sercombe is available soon and pray even harder that JCH mends sooner rather than later.

No mention of Craig being at fault for goal number 2? Perhaps he wouldn't have done it, if he had the arm band on. If OC hadn't completely upset the balance of the midfield and their ability to defend and attack properly, then perhaps Craig wouldn't have been exposed in the first place? ...and please don't quote Steve's report for all the reasons expressed before. Thanks for the report Steve

Thanks tbone - quoting Steve's report, in the Report thread is pointless and just makes the thread long and difficult to follow. Replies here are clearly about the report, or if it's about someone's answer, then quote that of course. It's just a bit of housekeeping, not looking to censor... UTG

We’re 28-1 to get relegated , many more performances like last night and those odds will come down fast.

Thanks Steve. I was there and I’m like you’re dad, I’ve always taught mine the same. I couldn’t say anything good (and usually I can) about last night so I didn’t. Awful, and the drive home took me about 3 hours. (every road I wanted to go down was closed overnight and no signed diversions, a nightmare). UTG!

Daryl Murphy, Jason Lowe and Chris O'Grady are experienced in the Championship and you have to wonder how Bolton can afford them.

Thanks for the report Steve. It makes for really depressing reading. I wasn't there last night. A rriend who is a season ticket holder at Manchester City invited me to their European game. What a complete difference in matchday experience!. I think I made the right decision, on reflection, to spend last night at the Etihad Stadium.

That's why we're losing £2M per year more than we should, Wael keeps lobbing it on relegation at the bookies, so we might afford the fruit market.

Thanks for the report Steve I have to scratch my head; exposed centre half, with 5 defenders and 3 defensive midfilelders in the team. Sorry a good centre half, who commands and reads the game doesn't need the support of 7 players around him.
GC has one dimension, sorry but that's how I see it. We lost that game on a whimper. The players 'didn't turn up', well the bloody manager should have taking a chance, flawed DC may have become, he would not have settled for that and would have changed something before HT, doesn't guarantee success, but guarantees a different approach. Tuesday was as bad as it could be, and I remember Andy Spring.

View from the iFollow app:
Jaakola 6
Davies 3 Craig 4 Kilgour 3
Rodman 5 Upson 3 Ogogo 3 Clarke 3 Kelly 2
Nichols 2 Adeboyejo 5
Smith 3 Bennett 2
Jaakola was the only one who put in an acceptable shift. Rodman's been getting a bit of stick but he looked to me like he was at least attempting to play. Adeboyejo impressed me, better service and he might get some goals for us. Kelly doesn't cut it. Nichols was diabolical, drop him now. He needs serious coaching from a proven ex striker. Upson had a terrible game, he's been brilliant this season until this week. Davies and Kilgour worst games for us. Clarke has been poor all season, pass the captaincy to Craig and maybe that'll drop that burden and allow him to get back his old form. Smith didn't get into the game. Bennett, I think it's best we sell him. There is nothing worse than seeing someone wear the quarters without pride. He does not give a f*ck about this club and it shows on the pitch. Overrated anyway.

I’m still reeling from Tuesday night and I can’t remember a team being that poor in every aspect of the game of football. I hope GC has made them have a good hard look at the Match video so they never play like that again.
What struck me was there was no calmness in the side. No one or 2 players that got together, put their foot on the ball and slowed it down to regroup. It was constant hot potato stuff with the ball literally going anywhere but to a rovers shirt. That kind of leadership needs to come from the captain, to pull one of the senior members of the team from each line and make sure they are playing the game plan. Instead all I saw was Ollie running around pointing a lot but not actually leading the team, organising structure which is what a captain is there for.
You can’t play with tempo if you can’t play basic football first. It was literally like watching an U11s game.
Hopefully it was a complete one off which you get from time to time in a season but it was clear that without Sercombe and JCH able to create opportunities for Upson or make space we are going to struggle.
Whilst it was easy to pick on Davies and Kilgour being poor, they were literally being battered from the absence of any midfield in front of them and it would be harsh if any of those were dropped Saturday.
Leahy must be reinstalled after LWB. Hargreaves should be played if OC isn’t fully fit. Smith is probably the best of the evils of lightweight strikers The right side, well you either have to persist with Rodman or put Bennett there IMO. Both aren’t naturals for that position until Little is fit again.
