It irritates me when people refer to other places, for example Rochdale as a sh** hole. Today perhaps for the last time I drove my diesel car in to Bristol, via the Gloucester Road. Like most days, slow traffic and no where to park. However, regardsthe scenary, little has changed, tags , and graffiti everywhere, and don't forget the occaisional caravan or delapidated converted mini bus. If you didn't know better, Bristol looks a bit like a sh** hole too

Personally I’m inclined to disagree. A city of our size is always going to have the odd unpleasant element to it. Besides some consider the artwork edgy and full of character.
I think we’ve got a lot going for our city and it’s no surprise it’s on the ascent.
Time to get some decent sporting facilities though!

All cities have their "good" and "bad" areas. In addition, with creative redevelopment some previously unfashionable areas become very desirable. In general, Bristol is a very desirable place to live and this statement is endorsed by average house prices. The attractiveness of Bristol and surrounding areas has been a magnet for relocating businesses. In addition, there are a considerable number of private schools in the city - always a proxy indicator of an area's affluence.
Sure, there are places in Bristol that are real eyesores, but I'm proud of my "hometown" - even if I don't live there anymore!

All cities do have their good and bad areas but really Rochdale is a sh** hole. The town centre got so bad even McDonald's decided to quit
Some nicer areas on the outskirts though and bury seems to be doing ok.

Having said that, Bristol is a very decent city on the whole, like all places it has it's bad areas though.

Some obviously being lived in and others just abandoned. What used to be a nice area, absolutely ruined and the council it would appear doing nothing to sort it out.

I drove past the Downs the other week, and what an eyesore! All those trashy vans parked near the White Tree roundabout......yet parked up around them were some very tidy motors! WTF is that all about?

Every City/Town has shall we say, A scruffy area. Overall i think Bristol looks good. Most of the folk are nice. There is plenty to do. Main thing is, It is home to the best team in the World EVER. My worst place is Manchester. I just do not like it at all.

Brighton is known to some as London by the sea.
Bristol is rapidly becoming the same. Apart from the sea. And Brighton.
I might need to edit this post when I'm sober.

What a load of rubbish. Rochdale is a sh*thole and Bristol is, on the whole, a lovely city.
