Sat on a ward in great Ormond street hospital nursing my little man watching countless episodes of Bing on repeat to keep him calm. Wishing you and your son all the very best & hoping for a swift recovery. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to see your kid suffer.

I once was on a children's ward with Spongebob Squarepants on all day, volume up very loud with the remote control broken and plug socket inaccessible. I can still hear his laugh all these years later. 😖 Best wishes, hope all is okay.

Having major surgery (haircut). Then continuing work on my flat so it's ready for arrival of girlfriend from the States in January. Aren't they cheaper to buy from Russia or Thailand? Asking for a friend. If ever you get tempted by ANY women from the eastern bloc countries then be very careful. They are probably the most high maintenance women on the planet, I don’t normally generalise but my parents always wished fir me to marry Polish. My experiences have put me off for life. They will spend all day looking good whilst you work your balls off, paying for that. There is a high incidence of borderline personality disorder in women from those countries. Believe me when I say be careful what you wish for. The friends I know who have Thai partners, are like the proverbial pigs in manure. Looked after and very happy. I know you are joking btw but beware the Eastern European ladies

Thanks to one and all for your good wishes. He’s making a good recovery from a painful operation. In answer to bishopston, my son was born with a chromosomal condition called Beckwith Wiederman Syndrome which resulted in a few complications for the little lad. As a result of this condition he had an enlarged tongue which made it difficult to breathe, chew, swallow and communicate so he’s had his tongue reduced in size and shaped so he can do all the usual things that come as second nature. There is only 1 dr in the UK that can do it and he’s based at GOSH. It’s been a really painful operation and recovery so far. He’s currently off his head on morphine!! Hopefully it will get more comfortable over the next few days and weeks. It will take about 3 months to heal completely.

Poor lad, I had a tooth out a week ago and the dental hospital told me my tongue may hurt and that was because the roots went sideways and close to the nerves. I’m in agony and I didn’t think your tongue could cause so much pain. I really feel for him but it’s lucky he’s at an age where he, hopefully, will heal well and quicker than when older. Good luck to you both

It’s made me feel very emasculated to be honest as I’ve been back, to my own dentist, 3 times and been told that I have to just get on with it because, each time they apply the small wad on painkilling mixture it just makes healing a longer process. I really feel for your boy as I honestly never thought any pain could be more severe than what I already deal with. I am actually going to fast all weekend and hope that this will do the trick. If I was now told I’d have to have an operation on my tongue then I’d be bricking it, I’m on morphine too but this seems to be resistant to it. I can only imagine how painful it must be for your son but we seem to have more ability to get past these things as kids. I just hope it doesn’t leave any longterm fears for him but it sounds very much like he is doing well and has good support, with you being there. No one truly understands how important it is to have people visit unless they have to have to stay in hospital for longer than a couple of days. Wishing your son a quick and happy result mate.

He’s going to have lots of speech and language therapy. He also has to learn to eat because until now he could only have purée food otherwise he would choke because he could chew and roll solid food into a ball and swallow like any normal person could. The only downside to the op is that he will have no control of the tip of his tongue, so good for donut eating contests where you can’t lick your lips but not so good for making vital language sounds.

Done Lidl after the fattest lie in! (Much needed) Now walking to co-op as my son Phoenix wanted ice lollies and Lidl were out. Decided to register for the forum again after a stressful period in life as I miss this strange place -ex mattybray007 - quartered and now aptly foreverblue (in life and of course the gas)
Bring on the Wum’s - I’m ready! Lol!

This kind of stuff puts all football into perspective, we think it’s very important at times but when it comes down to it it is just a game. Compared to family stuff and good health football is pretty low down on the list of important stuff. UTG!
