But he is one of the many, many players that left us to go on to better things. How can this be??

Nothing against the guy, but you should never go back. It rarely works out well

No, worst captain we've ever had.

I'd prefer a fit Allan Gow (where is he now?) Apart from his "I can't play at such a crap level" statement - half hoping he is without a club and regretting his lack of loyalty.

But he is one of the many, many players that left us to go on to better things. How can this be?? In general you are right, but this is a bad example to pick. He joined us as a Lge 2 team, and spend 3 incredibly unsuccessful years with us. We finally got rid of him when his fat contract expired (or we paid him up a little early). he was a Lge 2 player when he left and he went to a fellow Lge 2 team on loan (Exeter)and then signed for a fellow Lge 2 team (Tranmere) who ended up in the relegation zone. I fail to see how that is going to better things compared to when he was with us. Whatever we all think of 2011/12 and 2012/13, we finished 13th and 14th respectively; NOT in the relegation zone. The lesson to be learnt is that just because someone comes from the Championship and allegedly had 'lots of clubs' chasing him, doesn't mean that (a) he is any good, or (b) he deserves a 3 year contract. Norwich took him in a panic after being relegated to Lge 1, and after he'd had his only good goal scoring season ever. he only played 16 games for them in 2 seasons, of which only 4 were in the championship. Nearly all of his career has been in Lge 2 and the Conference. Buckle got conned big time.

Am I the only one who detest these "would you have him back" threads?
