GRIMSBY Town director John Fenty insists the latest set of accounts show why it's 'vital' that the club moves away from Blundell Park.
The figures, for the financial year ending May 2014, show that the Mariners made a loss of £227,441.
The debt owed to the club's directors – falling due in more than five years – was listed as £2,059,700 – up £75,000 on the figure from last year's accounts.
"Naturally, the figures are disappointing, but not unexpected," Fenty told the Telegraph.
"They show that the football club cannot make ends meet at Blundell Park.
"It isn't suitable for the modern game and doesn't provide the income streams necessary to sustain the club at the level we're at or in the Football League.
"If these accounts aren't a clear signal that the football club desperately needs to relocate in order to be here for future generations, then I don't know what is."
He added: "Year-in, year-out, we cannot continue to lose this kind of money – it's as simple as that.
"This is not a private business – the directors are effectively custodians who are simply working to ensure that the football club is there for future generations.
"It's not scaremongering – it's fact – we have to stand up to attention and understand the plight of this football club.
"This is not about political games – we have to relocate, it's absolutely vital to the club's very existence."
