All I know is that when I go to rovers this year I have a feeling we will win or a good chance of not losing. I hadn’t had that feeling for the previous 2 seasons.
That makes my Saturday evenings much more pleasurable looking at the table and seeing how close we are to the top instead of avoiding the highlights and daring not looking at where we are in the league.

Yeah I like to be entertained when I’m watching Rovers , football is an entertainment business after all, but after decades supporting my local club for me it’s about getting as many wins as possible , not worrying about getting relegated and maybe even getting promoted. That brings a smile more to my face than tippy tappy football. But then I grew up on Gerry Francis football at twerton. There was nothing wrong with that then and if we can make the top six this season then they’ll be nothing wrong with that way now.

To think we are all having a back & forth about wether we’re happy with the circumstances of being 5th in League One, given where we found ourselves less than 5 short years ago. It beggars belief. Give me another couple of scrappy ugly wins against Ipswich & Posh and being within touching distance of the automatics on Christmas Day.
Merry Christmas indeed.

I am just happy watching us in L1 hopefully safe from relegation fears this season and not thinking of Conference opposition! We have a good squad of players who are slowly starting to gel together. Not pretty football but hard fought. Southend game is a perfect analogy of our team and the league. We were absolutely garbage in 1st half (reminiscent of Coventry away earlier this season) but brilliant second half! Could have scored 7 but should have been buried by 1/2 time. We can beat anybody and lose to anybody. Same as every team in the league. Southend have been very unlucky this season. They play good pacy attacking football on the break; just like Rotherham Accrington etc. Do Wycombe deserve to be leaders based on the football they play?
When Saturday comes I will be there. Think of clubs like Bury etc and what their fans are going through?
5th in the League; take that any day. I expect a lot of away supporters at Ipswich because: - we have a lot of support in this part of the country? - we are 5th - 2 stunning away wins
Of course, we may come a cropper but when did we last go to Ipswich? This was a great club in the 70s and early 80s? And we are in the same League. We are lucky! I am glad to still be alive; and glad that I am fit and well to go to Gas games. If we win; great! If we lose, then .... there is always next week?

Interesting thread.
I am delighted with our league position. I think GC and the coaching team are together doing a brilliant job. I think the majority of fans are behind GC now.
I do not care about performances if they get results - how many teams play flowing football in league 1? Very very few. Wycombe were turgid at our place in August, look at them now!
You need a bit of talent, but organisation, character, hard work, and a few tactics up the sleeve go a long way in the bottom divisions - we have all of those attributes. Portsmouth, Shrewsbury, Bromley away, and Southend show that.
As another poster said - if the current approach gets us to the championship, even for a year, it would be fantastic.
It appears hard for a new manager of a club to follow a previously very successful one. Look at Man Utd and Arsenal as recent examples.
Over course the bigger picture of the clubs longer term future is another matter.

I don't get this "I don't care about performances as long as win" nonsense, we don't just turn up at the Mem and watch 90 mins of football then go home happy if we win, we need to be entertained to a certain extent for that 90 mins, otherwise we might as well just stay at home and check the results at 5pm.

Going to football for fans is as much about the social element as it is the football itself. Win or lose, rain or sun, at least I get to see familiar faces and friends at the game, in the pub and on the terrace etc. So crap football would never stop me going. A winning team is performing well, otherwise it wouldn't be winning. But it will entertain everyone to a different degree. Entertainment can be separated from the performance. I like to see the team win and perform well, which it is. Do I want to be entertained? Yes, but it's a bonus at this level though. We don't have the luxury of expecting entertainment in IMHO. We are just trying to survive and compete with the teams around us. I can get non-stop entertainment on the edited highlights of Match of the Day.

I have said for years when watching the Rovers, "Good day out, good food, good beer, good company. Only spoilt by one thing, the bluddy football".
After the year I have had, it's great to be with friends on a Saturday and forget about everything else going on - UTG
