Cant help but feel GC thinks we have a chance of something spectacular this year but obviously feels he isn't getting the support...one comment which stood out was "let's ALL get behind the lads and give this a good go", feeling for the bloke a bit tbh, performed a miracle compared to a where we were a year ago, almost every signing has been a success yet there still continues to be a negative vibe...

I'm no smart arse so don't worry!
I mentioned it in another post but want to repeat it - it is not easy following a great manager. Look at Arsenal and Man Utd.
Even in Rovers recent history is has been tough.
After Trollope we had Penny, Campbell, Buckle who lasted all of 5 minutes. After Holloway we had Thompson who last less than a season. After Francis in 1990 we had Rofe and then Allison who didn't last long each. Now GC after DC, who is bucking the trend or at least has a great chance to.
Why is it tough? Partly the fans I suppose, who are used to something and someone different. While the manager has to also dismantle another managers team and build his own while under pressure to keep up relative success.
GC is a fighter and a winner - but as the weeks go by less and less criticism is coming his way for a reason - he is getting 100% out of the players and we more often than not win. A fortunate set of circumstances considering the history.

Iâm pretty sure if we get a positive result on sat away at Ipswich that this will be the turning point crowd wise. 8k v Peterborough ( never a good date for crowds before Xmas ) and a massive gate on Boxing Day if we do well in both games.

Weâre not quite over the last bird , yes it all went tits up at the end and there were a few hissy fits but we loved her and had four bloody good years which we wanted to continue but it didnât and was followed by one awful one and the time was right to get shot. Cogs is uglier and hasnât got the charisma our last bird had but wow just look at him go, so heâll certainly do for now.

A fortunate set of circumstances considering the history. To be fair to Rofe he was a major improvement on Martin Dobson who seems to have escaped the spotlight in your post and yet is probably the prime example of the point youâre making. He should have been a success following Francis but his tenure was an abject failure.

Martin Dobson was a strange appointment - a football purist who tried to change a successful side who had a more direct approach into Brazil overnight.
He couldn't get the likes of Alexander, Twentyman, Reece etc to play his style so was faced with a players revolt which resulted in his downfall.

If, like the majority of managerial changes, his appointment followed an unsuccessful period of results and performances then his âmy way or the highwayâ change everything immediately approach would have been tolerated. Unfortunately for him he was replacing a manager on the up who had left behind a successful model that suited the club and players and thus his determination to fix what wasnât broken lost him the dressing room leaders before a ball had been kicked and he became an astute footballing square peg of a manager in a decidedly round hole of a club and staff. Skinner, Cross and hastening Stewieâs introduction to first team football remain the only real plus points from his brief reign....and losing 3-1 at home to City in the Rumblelows Cup, thus setting up Rofeâs fairytale start at Ashton Gate in the second leg.
