Robbie Fowler on a 3 year pay as you play deal overseeing a DoF role in a player/coach capacity please Isn't he managing in Australia? Cost a bit to buy his contract out, so can't see that!! Pretty close commute though.

Don't know if he was planning on announcing it. One minute he was talking about bringing in one or two senior players in January, then he started talking about having a decision to make. It's like he was carrying on like normal, but then thought I can't lie,I have to say something. Wonder if he will leave all guns blazing or with an NDA in place? There will be a NDA in place, however it won’t cover gossip overheard by someone down the pub so we know the full story.

It seems that the BP are reporting he told players he was leaving after the game to join an unnamed League Two club (so Mansfield) - to have the nerve to do that when, at that point, an approach from them hadn't even been accepted... utterly disgraceful. We should indeed get a very good amount of compensation, but I really, really hope we sue the f**k out of Mansfield too. Clearly something very, very, very underhand going on in all of this. I think those that never warmed to him feel well and truly vindicated today. You can tell from his interviews that he is an inlikeable sod- remember how everyone thought his comment about Celtic was just hi-jinks? It was crass and a perfect example of how he hasn’t got a clue in front of the media like on Saturday. He insinuated Reilly had no stomach for a fight by leaving and then he pulls a stunt like this? He’s a piece of work and it.’s a shame we won’t be playing Mansfield any time soon because he deserves to be boo’ed to **** for this. Did we? I don’t even remember it.

I think you're trying to vindicate yourself rather than assuming all people that shared your lack of warmth towards him now feel vindicated. I don't for example. Underhand it may well be, on that point I agree, but most of it is putting 2 and 2 together and making 5, and the BP are simply fanning the flames with sensationalist journalism and unsubstantiated rumours. GC may not have the media savvy nature of DC, but he's hardly the antichrist that you paint him as. Talk about an overreaction. Get a grip for crying out loud!

Has anyone suggested Gary Johnson yet? We couldn't afford the compensation to buy him out of his Torquay contract.

Damn right he’s the antichrist, he’s taken us to 4th and just when things start looking up he’s risked putting the whole lot in the bin by buggering off to manage bloody Mansfield. He’s made us a laughing stock across the river again. You might think he has good reason because maybe the board are selling players etc. but even if so the way he has gone about it is totally shameful- telling the players before the game when Mansfield had no right to make an approach. He deserves every bit of stick he gets. He didn’t hold back in having a pop at Reilly in the media for his conduct when he went on loan. Total hypocrite.

IF he leaves today then he's left us much better off than when he started, when we were staring relegation in the face and had no saleable assets. His treatment of Reilly in the media wasn't great I admit that, and IF he told the players he's leaving then I agree he could have handled that better too. But he's the manager of the players and whatever he's been doing has been working wonders with them. Maybe he's just doing what he feels is right by the players. Who are we to argue with that? I think you personally are getting too uptight and offended by this whole situation. We're 4th in the league thanks to him and that's whether he goes to Mansfield or not. We'll live on without him and I will continue to thank him for what he's done in his 1 year in charge. Maybe time for you to have some appreciation as well rather than searching deep for reasons to be watered off with him in order to vindicate your previously-unexplainable dislike for him. This I should add is coming from me who was staunchly pro-DC and never quite took to GC as much. Yet I still can at least have some perspective and see that GC by hook or by crook got us into a position way beyond anyone's expectations. Yes, he really is the antichrist.

You think he will still be at the club? That will only make things worse. His position is untenable. He needs to be put on gardening leave while the club asserts it’s authority and decides what it will do next. We shouldn’t be pushed about and play to Mansfield’s timetable.

He’s done half a job, conducted himself poorly and shown no real loyalty to the board who gave him a chance and a generous contract (in terms of length). If this had come out over the summer and he left then that’s a different matter in my book but doing what he has done mid-season and not even to go in an upward direction makes his current employer look like a laughing stock.

He needs to be put on gardening leave while the club asserts it’s authority and decides what it will do next. We shouldn’t be pushed about and play to Mansfield’s timetable. again (and I am not defending GC per se) It's all very presumptuous from the fans. words like Untenable and asserting authority are very black and white and demanding
IF there are personal issues maybe his employers need to talk to him and find a way forward together. Maybe he needs to take a break, maybe he needs support
We don't know the circumstances or what is going on his head. As I said before, we like to talk more about mental health now, but 'we' are quick to jump on someone without knowing the facts
Maybe he is a w**ker, or maybe he just needs a bit of support
