Hes obviously already agreed terms. It will be us and Mansfield agreeing how much its going to cost them while all the while pretending he wasnt either tapped up or sought out the move himself. Be funny with we failed to accept their compo. But it will be in our best interest to accept it otherwise we will be paying him while on garden leave as it will be unacceptable in my eyes to allow him to continue with us. Best to get something for him than pay him while on garden leave and be paying another manager.
I guess though that compo has already been agreed to allow them permission to speak to CG??
Would be funny if Mansfield now offered him a low wage knowing he had made his position as manager here untenable. Actually I dont really care, just want him gone so we can move forward. Losing a glorified PE teacher doesnt grind the club to a halt

The thing is, I do feel that everyone was starting to warm to him. Saturdays result was the peak and that would have put a few more on the crowd this Saturday. He was slowly starting to win everyone over. Now unless he does well at Mansfield, he will probably never manage at league one level again. He won me over from the first game. Put family first though didn’t he. Shows the kind of person he is and I respect that. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Mansfield met the salary he’s on with us. Do you really think it’s about family - contributory probably , more about what’s going on here (or not ), methinks Utg

It doesnt appear GC has handled this situation with any class and that will taint his legacy. Heh heh. I said taint.

Most of the home games this season have produced poor and boring football, devoid of enough entertainment and the result has been a drop in attendances. The lost income is what Coughlan needed if he hoped to get some funds in January. If he had shown more adventure in the home games we probably would have retained the Supporters who have deserted and won more points. I have never witnessed a Bristol Rovers Team ride so high in conjunction with falling attendances as everyone supports a winner - right?

F##k the missing 1000
F##k pretty football
I’d rather have the 6k gate, finish 2nd and go up ugly
A few here missing the point
They’re playing for the shirt and Coughlan did that and that’s what successful teams do
Those bed wetters blasting on about DC’s “style of play” seem to forget that very few ever played for the shirt cos they had no idea if they would be wearing it next week
Coughlan got results. Coughlan did good business. Coughlan was prepared to give the youngsters a go . He’s a ballsy man . And now he’s gone
I don’t care why cos it’s immaterial now to me as a gas head
But when we slide down to mid table mediocrity from the heady heights of where we are now ask whether the team are playing for the shirt or adapting to playing some “attractive” football the next manager thinks he can coax from this squad
We’re not Man City . We don’t have the attractiveness inherent. There’s just a bloody minded mentality built up. We win games. We’re hard to beat. I like that
Good luck to Coughlan. Yes you could have shown a bit more class. Yes you’ve now shown to be a bit of a hypocrite with one thing or another . Let’s hope that whatever it’s all about he’s left a legacy of true grit pervading the dressing room. I reckon he might just have done that.
So that’s to be thankful for if nothing else

FFS wouldnt it just have been easier to say yes or no!? I'm been digging through all the threads and cant actually see it. Couple of class bum finger jokes though so not a total bust. No, he hasnt gone. I assume we are thrashing out compo with Mansfield. He wont be our manager again. So he could still be here for our game tomorrow but not actually manage the team.

Technically he is still an employee of Rovers. In reality, he's serving a very short notice period whilst Rovers and Mansfield resolve compensation issues. I assume he is currently on "gardening leave".
Hope we ain't paying him!
If he’s on gardening leave then we will be paying him. UTG!

The point is that we will not improve on our losses of £65,000 / week on crowds of 6,000 which is unsustainable. How do we get better players in on 6,000? People need to understand the finances are very concerning. With the right Manager there is no reason why we cannot play to a better standard at home from where we derive the income. We already have most of the players to achieve that.

I agree with the general theme of your argument but i dont get slagging off the previous manager.

The family issues are obviously an easy excuse to cover GC bolting. It must be an absolute shambles behind the scenes if someone of Graham's caliber is desperate to get out. What calibre?

Loved the results GC has achieved in leaving us 4th in the league and can honestly say thanks to GC and the team. Well done for doing this. His team became very hard to beat and they battled most of the time even if the football sometimes wasn’t easy to watch and tbh I’ve been left wondering how we won sometimes without looking that good at times. But in a results business it is the results that matter.
We seem to be accepting that GC is gone even though he hasn’t. But it will be impossible for him to remain now even if the Mansfield job all goes t*** up. Having watched the post match interview on Saturday it was a complete disaster for him. He looks like he’s trying to deflect any criticism that comes his way against the owners. Questioning how far he can take us, stupid. He didn’t pose those questions after the Shrewsbury or Southend match so why now? He’s a rookie manager, fortunate to be given a chance with us, preaching loyalty and he does this! He was happy enough a year ago with the budget, training ground and the fact we had given him an opportunity when no one else would. Between the Southend game and Ipswich he’s been tapped up, his agent has been busy so no crap can be aimed at GC.
I’ve always said that family comes first, second and third in any circumstances but watching that interview and watching what’s been happening at Mansfield has left me very suspicious that we’ve been misled by GC in that interview. He was uncomfortable, no eye contact, was very inarticulate and clearly didn’t want to be there. The family card was easy for him to play when in the light of Mansfield approaches it appeared to be that which was at the heart of what was happening.
I could be talking a load of b****x but in the light of what we now know it appears GC has been manoeuvring this situation in the past week. Had he come out and explained it honestly and had done so this morning it would have been much better. To do it then and take away the sheer joy of beating Ipswich away to go 4th in the league and splutter his way through a car crash of an interview was pathetic. We have one of the most important weeks in the season and he does that. His legacy is now likely ruined and he has no way back at Rovers. I hope the owners get compensation and we move on. The club is always bigger than the individual. I hope we move quickly and appoint Hargreaves and Mansell for the rest of the season and reflect on the what to do next when the season is over.
UTG!

Good results in those two games and we’d be hitting high numbers prob for rest of season
