Perhaps January may reveal why GC decided on his move, what ever reason from our board or enforced silence from GC the January transfer window does not lie. Personally not too bothered by his departure because the majority of games i have seen this season have been dire and we have been very lucky in some and that luck has to run out sometime, sadly our squad is nowhere near Championship quality. I hope i am wrong and we continue scraping results but cannot see it happening. UTG !

I recall when Tommy widdrington went back to Cov and signed JCH, the Coventry manager stated the deal for JCH was too good for him to stand in his way for. That indicates our budget was pretty healthy and if Starnes is correct that we operate within that budget and FFP I don’t see anything wrong with that.

I agree. Got some posts saying JCH to go (believable) and up to 3 or 4 more with him! If GC was told that I don’t blame him for leaving. If we keep hold of our core and even add a couple it will make his decision even more baffling. This move could even be a blessing in disguise. I don’t think the owners will do anything other than hope an internal promotion manager works again for peanuts, but you never know. They might surprise us yet! Come on Wael. Prove we are a bigger club than Mansfield and let’s give this season a real go! Otherwise what are you here for?

I totally agree, most of the games I've watched this season have been dross but he did grind out results and got us up to fourth, in league one too but I am the same, not bothered at all and feel he wasn't liked by our fanbase. It was always going to be difficult for him following DC and MS, with the success over the 4 years in charge. The next appointment has to be spot on. UTG

To be fair Russia if you believe anything said by anybody in football to the media then your mad. They will say/spin whatever they have to, to appease their fans/players/stakeholders and we will do the same.

Shift Mensah, Bennett & Reilly off of the wage bill and let’s see some new faces to improve this side and continue the championship march.

That’s been our problem all along, it’s not that we don’t have a competitive budget, it’s just that we’ve hit the limit of what we can spend to comply with FFP rules. The sooner we can move on the likes of Mensah and Bennett is the sooner we can go out and spend on a couple of players to bolster the squad.

From what little I know about Arabic cultures I would have thought that loss of face would be more hurtful to the AQ’s than it would to your typical European, sorry, xenophobic Brit. So they might be forced into spending a bit more of their own cash in this instance to bolster their reputation.

Yeah I agree, that’s why I said indicates rather than clearly means we have a healthy budget. We have to hang onto to snippets like that to give us hope

So in other words the same as last January and Summer, move one out to allow one to come in. Move another out, another can come in. UTG!

That system has worked pretty well the last two transfer windows! Yes it has. My post was not a criticism, more a statement of what our manager said at the time. If we are losing what some say we are I hope decisions being made will protect our future so we have a team to support. I have no problems with that policy, depending upon who those who go out are and who comes in, but in principle not a major problem. UTG!

Financially it's been a cracking week, compo for Cogo, third round, tv revenue, Wael and Hani are doing somersaults to come on Eileen!

Just to put the record straight I went to the Blue Diamond lunch and GC made no mention of any players being sold I. January let alone 4.

Thing is about Bennett , Mensah and Reilly, who would want them, especially on the wages Bennett is reported to be on
