Holloway's inability to keep his mouth shut rules him out of any chance of the job.

Easily done I know - but I am a bit confused. Can someone please tell me when any player at this club (and likely any other club at this level with limited cash flow issues) has not been available for sell? Its the way of life at this level. Only the timing and price may alter. All the other stuff is just social media generated crap. Its a fact of life - and we just need to accept it and move on. There's the PL and then there is reality. Sadly we live very firmly in the latter. I'd suggest that only 5 or six teams in this country are not selling clubs. Maybe less. Real Madrid and Barcelona are the only non-selling clubs in the world!!! Utd lost Ronaldo, Liverpool lost Coutinho, Bayern lost Kroos, Juventus lost Pogba... As Ollie said, tin hat on but £2m+ and he's already on the next train to wherever!

£2mil for someone who can't stay fit is a no brainer. I think the point is that Starnes could have answered differently, yet still made his point about all players have their price...

I would argue that there is perhaps only 1 non selling club in the world. Real Madrid. Having said that, if you are CEO of a football club you should probably not be saying as much two weeks before the start of a transfer window... I mean, everyone knows it, but it doesn't have to be broadcasted! May as well have just said 'Yep, he is for sale so please form an orderly line and get your prices in'.

I would probably add PSG as well. We know we are a selling club but normally we are a bit more bullish in interviews to show we will be doing all we can to keep the payer. It felt a bit like he was softening the blow for Rovers fans. Hope I’m wrong, but what went wrong with the contract extension talks and what was all the leaking of info on JCH’s injury all about.

It's just the way we do it and have done for God knows how long. Makes you appreciate even more how we're 4th in Lg1.

We sold our two most bankable players in 1989, finished okay that season. The important thing is getting replacements and only time will tell if that works out.

I think the point is although every player does have a price, it’s about ambition. Whatever JCH is worth now, he’ll be worth twice that if we were to get promoted and he keeps banging them in.
I’m not just talking sale value either. Regardless of if we were to get relegated we would have a season of increased gates, TV money and parachute payments. Not to mention potential new young fans. It’s about risk vs reward.
No doubt we will take the path of least resistance and sell our best assets at the first opportunity as usual.

If JCH was, say, a Peterborough United player. They'd probably get 2 or 3 million for him in the window.
I fully expect us to snap someone's hand of for 800k.

There are probably only five clubs in the world (excluding Chinese Super League) that are not 'selling' clubs..and we are not one of them! Spot on! The only issue in January will be the actual sale price of JCH and the fans valuation (often unrealistic) of him. Peterborough always seem to get big fees for their players and are only just above us in the table. It isn't always just about money.
