Had he been told that Jonson Clarke-Harris will be sold in the January transfer window? When chief executive Martyn Starnes was asked about that prospect this week, he replied with the phrase “every player has his value”.
That is almost like issuing an invitation to other clubs to make bids. Are we going to see Rovers’ star striker follow the manager out of the club at a time when the team are among the League One promotion contenders and enjoying a run in the FA Cup?
Only time will tell, but everything now rests with the board and fans are crying out for some positive news, not just on the playing side, but about plans for a new stadium and the development of a training ground".
If only we can get some straight answers from Starnes or Wael. does anyone know if Geoff Twentyman is going to have any interviews with BRFC leadership in the near future ?
Sadly, I fear a nosedive down the table as the season goes on. UTG !

Not even 300 billion, he has no price that we find would be acceptable. He will never leave. Ever". It's pretty obvious EVERY player has a price, he just answered honestly, we'd all be slating him and calling him a liar if he would have said he's not for sale at any price. Course he has a price, that ain't news to anyone. |

Everyone knows everyone at this level is for sale (at the right price). If they'd said he's not for sale, and then he was sold everyone on here would be whining that they were lying to us (see the Matty Taylor £10M thing).
If football really is the small world where everyone knows everybody and everything that's going on, do you think any prospective club is really getting their info on JCH's availability from IH's column in the BP?

If he says no players including JCH won’t be sold and we end up selling him for a big fee then everyone would call Starnes a liar and the club with no ambition. If he says we have to sell a player to balance the books and to create working player budget then everyone will decry the club for everything they do now.
The journo was trying to pre-empt the future which in some respects the club, the board or even the players have no control over.
What he said was correct and worth remembering that JCH has 2 years to go on his contract, is a BRFC player and if someone wants him they need to pay the going rate for him and whilst he’s scoring 11 goals in 19 games he will garner interest.

Easily done I know - but I am a bit confused.
Can someone please tell me when any player at this club (and likely any other club at this level with limited cash flow issues) has not been available for sell? Its the way of life at this level. Only the timing and price may alter.
All the other stuff is just social media generated crap.
Its a fact of life - and we just need to accept it and move on.
There's the PL and then there is reality. Sadly we live very firmly in the latter.

Depends what state our finances are in (we sort of know) and how the club want to deal with it of course. |

But we all know at this level we have to sell to survive and if we don't then just like our manager did on Saturday the player will force a move anyway.
Little point saying we'll just sell our best players and only get in loans, when we haven't a clue what the owners intentions are.

Given his injury problems and the club’s financial situation, I’m not sure how we could sensibly turn an offer like that down tbh.
Put £1.25m towards the debt and £750k for the manager to spend on replacing him & improving the squad.

To publicly question and criticise the owners then expect a phone call inviting you in feels strange logic to me. I guess that's in keeping with the man in general with his portrayal as a comical, lovable Bristolian not quite fitting the reality. It's pretty evident Holloway is in semi-retirement now, with ol' rent-a-quote regularly paraded around by the media to provide the kind of punditry you'd normally expect to see from the likes of Paul Merson. He's even brought out his own podcast, which I'm sure he'd find a way of fitting in between training. Of course it would tick the romantic box, much like Gerry's return in 2001, but the outcome would be very similar I'm sure. And let's hope we wouldn't draw QPR in the club, given his previous comments hoping they would beat us. The fact the club haven't turned to him brings me confidence they aren't as inept as many like to suggest. |

There are probably only five clubs in the world (excluding Chinese Super League) that are not 'selling' clubs..and we are not one of them!

I would find it unbelievable if he came back under the current owners considering how much he vilified Geoff Dunford for his lack if funding during his last tenure. Sometimes needs must although I don't think he's visiting food banks yet. |

Kind of agree with that, although even the non-selling clubs are 'forced' to sometimes. Player/agent power.
What is needed from our point though, is the raising of the need to sell bar level. Peterborough sell when its millions for players, we sell when its thousands. If we had owners that thought a few hundred thousand for a top asset isn't something to entertain, we would soon keep our better players for longer, or until true values are paid. We are clearly a selling club, but we shouldn't be a club where other teams know they can prise these assets from us cheaply.
