After a long unbeaten run this was always on the cards with a new Manager taking over a team that have been doing very well and playing against a team who to be honest although we may have been pumping above our weight generally we should have been well capable of beating lowly AFC Wimbledon. First half I thought we played quite well at times and were well worth at least the 1 goal lead and probably two or three as the Dons did not really look much of a team but second half we were poor and couldn't really deny that at the end Wimbledon deserved a point but probably not all three but we gave them their goals on a plate.
Jaakkola 7 Couple of very good top quality saves as he has become accustomed to. Maybe should have done better with the first goal but perhaps I am being a bit harsh.
Menayase 5.5 caught out too many times today and to be honest the three centre halves were really dodgy on the flanks today not really helped by the wing backs but I suppose if we want to play more on the front foot then we are going to be susceptible to getting caught out in wide positions. Craig 6 Not his usual game , caught for pace a couple of times. Kilgour 6 generally sound but like his fellow defenders was a bit out of sorts at times.
Rodman 5 Caught out too many times and weak on both goals. Better first half than second. Upson 7 Kept the ball moving well and rarely gave it away but needs players alongside him with a bit more pace and creativity. Great ball through in the second half that should have set up a goal. Ogogo 4 Very poor but won the penalty Sercombe 7 MOM Shame about the expertly taken goal that was disallowed probably correctly and had a great first half but like the majority of the team much less influence in the second half Leahy 6.5 An OK game
Nichols 6 Some great control and running with the ball but really should have come away with two goals and that is his problem and ours- missed chances at important times. Clarke-Harris 6.5 Looks overall way short of his best but his presence is important and IMO was replaced too early
Subs: Adeboyejo 4 Should have definitely scored and won the game for us. Instead he passed and the chance was gone as were eventually all three points. Don't know if we can send him back in January but if we could I would be inclined to and try to get Eoin Doyle from Bradford City as surely we would be a in a better position than Swindon to get him. Smith 4 Did he go on? Bennett 4 Same as Smith but was really put on too late.
Crowd 6 Over 9000 but silent for too long Ref 5 Average Wimbledon 6.5 better than their position suggested but we should have been out of sight by half time if we had taken chances that did come our way. Even second half we should have scored a couple but really gifted them the three points.
This report is short because I am not going to criticise the Manager after one game with little time to prepare as really it was I would think the same team Maher would have put out and probably had GC been in charge it would have been a draw. My only worry is the lack of emotion from the New Manager which does really worry me. We can't really criticise him until we see what team we have in place after the transfer deadline closes and even then he is going to be limited by the owners. Anyway now two games coming up where I would be satisfied with three points out of the six and don't honestly expect to pick up anything at Fleetwood. Perhaps me thinking this is a good omen!! UTG

I personally thought Leahy (yet again) had a fine match and ran himself into the ground/battled hard for the entire 90mins. Not just himself but on behalf of 2 or 3 of his colleagues also.

Why have you got the words Nichols and running in the same sentence? Flit about at about 50% pace, sure. Run? Not so much.

Doyle can’t play for anyone but Bradford or Swindon this season.

Leahy was man of the match today for me. Defended well, had some attacking intent and ideas, and as you say, kept on running and tackling all ghe way to the end.

The problem with Nichols is that he struggles to get the ball down to his feet quick enough when the ball comes in his direction before the defenders catch up. He makes some really good runs into the right spaces and provides an attacking outlet but simply can't finish off any move that he starts. JCH was rusty and you could tell he wasn't fit, good pen but his first touch let him down and several times he was caught out trying to do too much.
I also thought Ogogo's contribution was close to non-existent in the second half, the whole midfield were off their game and as a result we seemed to lack any sort of urgency going forwards. We've got to do a lot better if we want a result away at a good Fleetwood side next week.

First half there was lots of pressing high up the pitch when we didn’t have the ball which looked like a new managers tactic but that was non existent in the second half.
Generally no issues at the back to address in January, but with an unfit JCH and with the other strikers to contributing enough the priority will surely be to address this.

We had no imagination or width going forward, hardly troubled their back line and didn’t get wingbacks past their full backs, particularly Rodman.
Our wingbacks never have a forward pass to anyone running the channels in front of them or and outlet 5 yards inside the touch line for a give and go to get them in behind the opposition.
I hope Garner sorts this out.

New manager or not, the squad is in a position way above where it probably should be. Having said that, losing at home to the wombles is still a gutting result. Never mind, a nice easy game at Fleetwood coming up!

I personally feel we've got issues at right wing back, Rodman clearly can't defend and Little is too injury prone to rely upon, if Hare hadn't suffered his injury we could well now be second in the table. Although why BG had Rodman so high up the pitch in the second half was a mystery, as he hardly had the beating of his LB

I feel like this plan has a fatal flaw.

UTG Eoin Doyle has played for both Bradford City and Swindon already this season so due to EFL rules he can't play for another EFL side until next season.

Agree with you. He was MOM in my opinion yesterday and if Rodman was anywhere near as close to his performance we would have won comfortably.

You say not to criticise the manager, but in my opinion, when you have a new manager in and a game at such short notice and someone who does not know the players he ought to sit back let the interim manager take charge and look at the game and the players before making any changes. So yes I do blame the manager

Taking the team for the very first time away at Fleetwood Town, would in my opinion be a much tougher first assignment.

They had fairly easy chances to score 4 or 5 but a couple of great saves prevented this.

I just never see a pattern of play when we attack. It's as if we make it up as we go along. The forwards don't know what runs to make, as they don't think they'll be seen, by the midfielders, so they just seem to wait.
I thought there CF Pigot? was a constant thorn for us yesterday.

First half- I actually thought that we had some good attacking patterns. Very early doors- but I thought you could see the wing backs playing higher up. In turn- CMs were taking up full back positions. It reminded me very much how Chelsea played 5 at the back. The biggest flaw was that Jonno was the one often coming deep. I'd be tempted to play Bennett off Jonno. That forces JCH to lead the line and I think Bennett is acute enough to operate as an AM.
