Whats he going to teach the squad on the training pitch that will improve on 4th in the league? That makes no sense. Even the elite can improve. If what he does makes no difference, then why has our form dropped?? Why bother training at all lol The way we were playing was working. We are now missing the key player's for that system to work. We don't have any right backs to go 442 or 433. We have 2 new players, who don't know the squad. Who have not had chance to get to know our player's strengths and weaknesses. For our players to get to know theirs. Training won't help any of that?? We don't currently have the squad that was 4th in the league. A relatively small league 1 standard squad, an intense playing period aligned to that a squad which itself has been decimated by injury, has led us to this position. None of us can possibly know what Mr Garner will do with this, but what I hope for is a plan that sees us in the championship in the season after next (ie promoted at the end of that season). To that end gnashing of teeth is a waste of time. Perhaps we just support the manager and team, knowing that faces will change, there will bumps along the road, but to believe we will get there in the end. What else is there?

As far as your last point apart from Ogogo who's missing from the team which won at Ipswich? Anssi obviously but he's hardly the reason we're not scoring goals? Smith who coincidentally was one of the goalscorers

Ogogo is a big miss to the way we play IMO. He does all the running and breaks things down. OC could replace him, if he was fit. Missing both at the same time us a different matter though.

I would argue that garner is trying to change the way the team play too quickly and without the right players to do it. We were 4th after ipswich so a half season comparison with coughlan is an unavoidable fact of life for garner.

Its really difficult when from day one of the appointment you sensed impending disaster and feel you just have to watch the tragedy unfold before your eyes.

We’ve gone from playing those two together with Upson as well in a 3-5-2 hardly conceding and playing to JCH strengths ie direct to not having that screen in front of the back 5 and not playing to JCH strengths. It’s not just one thing it’s a culmination of many things, new manager , injuries , different style etc. All of these things may be fixed in time or it might get worse it’s going to be interesting.

The last highly rated West Ham kid we signed has to go down as one of the worst strikers in our history. Hunt was a striker that obviously never learned the offside rule. This one is a midfielder who, like Barrett and Mitchell-Lawson, would be aiming to provide more bullets for whoever is firing the gun. Question is, other than JCH do we have anyone competent enough to aim, fire and hit the target?

A relatively small league 1 standard squad, an intense playing period aligned to that a squad which itself has been decimated by injury, has led us to this position. It’s interesting that Ed Upson said to Geoff Twentyman on “Having a Gas” this week that having a settled side under GC meant that the players knew where to find each other on the pitch (allegedly), as many on here had called for. However we seem to be experiencing the worst injury crisis for several seasons, presumably through fatigue as these days I don’t believe it is attributable to the state of the pitch. Under DC’s squad rotation ethos the treatment table seemed to be a lot less busy but there was more irritation (particularly on here) that the breakdown in play was due to the lack of familiarity. It seems that getting the balance right between an ever present first team and a squad is trickier than it looks and that’s without the psychological issues of trying to keep everyone happy and motivated (stevek192 and many others included).😂

Eoin Doyle recalled back to Bradford from Swindon.
Bradford want him out & Swindon offered £100k, which Bradford want double.
Would love it if we could sign him, great price as well tbh - £200k is a bargain.
Swindon apparently getting Grigg on loan from Sunderland 😳 They only signed him a year ago for £4m ffs

Pirate types faster than I do!

Cheers lads!
So apparently Sunderland really want rid of Grigg! I’m assuming he still has 18 months on his contract, but could be worth a punt in summer on loan or buy if they’re willing to loan him out to L2!

If affordable and we could get Grigg firing again it could be a good move. His record at this level before Sunderland is second to none.

Sunderland did say they didn’t want to sell Grigg to a rival L1 side. Not sure if they class us as a rival or not but as we are a win away from the playoffs, they would probably be reluctant.

Accrington Stanley and Bristol Rovers are keen to sign Cardiff City goalkeeper Joe Day on loan. #asfc #brfc #ccfc #EFL_HUB
