Does anyone know if this is based on an actual scene, if it is Bristol, or if it is an artist's impression? My son spotted it, it's a Gibson's Jigsaw called Final Whistle, we've just purchased one on ebay. (Hope the attached photo comes through ok) Attachment Deleted

Beaten by Westy - I was going to say it looks a fictitious ground to me, but with elements we would recognise. Interesting it is Halstead Town - did they play in quarters? The jigsaw isn't listed as a current one on the Gibson website.

Apparently so, their crest in some of those other pictures seem to be blue/white quarters, although I think they play in black/white stripes now 🤔 I had a look too on Google Maps for Rosemary Lane, Halstead and you can see the straight where the tracks would of ran alongside once upon a time

The loco in question was built at Stratford in 1912 and withdrawn in 1962. It was built for the Colne valley line in Essex and was allocated to Colchester. Towards the end of its life it was based at Stratford where it was withdrawn from and scrapped. Halstead as a location makes sense as it is in Essex and near Colchester. The Colne valley railway is now a preserved railway based in Halstead.

Prior to 1940 they played in stripes before the change to quarters. The picture is 1948 or later after the nationalisation of the railways hence the number of the loco prefixed by a 6.

Bidefordgas, do you know what type of banking engines used to wait on the 13 arches overlooking Eastville in the early 60's? Engines based at Barrow road sheds were used for banking duties on Fishponds bank. Midland class 4F or laterly BR class 4/5.

Defo Halstead Town circa 1952 Up the Humbugs. The precast concrete fence posts were first used in the early 1950’s.

I might buy this, it says 8 to 10 years on the box. It’ll give me something to do while I’m waiting for the stadium announcement.
