Those statements concerned me when I read them yesterday. Also odd that there wasn’t a video. There's the usual one on Rovers app? The more I hear of Garner the more I fear he's another Dobson, even a Buckle with a less objectionable personality, as what was so broken it needed fixing so badly? Didn't the selection committee realise you can't change playing style overnight w/o a complete revamp of the squad?

They probably do but they don’t care because they wanted to make an appointment to bring the crowds back (although in the short term it’s made them worse) and that was the main criteria (well, good track record with developing youth too because we are now run on a shoestring). In many ways this is a prime example of how staying away and not supporting a successful, yet awful, team can actually mean that the next appointment is even worse. I’m sure there are a few, like me, who wish they had supported Coughlan more but the shitshow that has followed makes Coughlan’s era now seem like Ferguson era Man United followed by David Moyes. But the fact still remains that giving the job to someone with 0 games managed on their CV was a complete risk and would have been far better if done over the summer. It’s a massive bollock that has been dropped.

You used the example of Solskjaer the other day- how’s that one working out for you? So yeah, it’s easy to pick and choose the best examples possible- which only goes to show it’s a complete risk.

There are many many examples out there, and every single manager has to start somewhere! Brendan Rodgers is another one. Appointing any manager, even an experienced one, is basically a risk.

I think we need to put on our big boy pants and see how it goes, it is unlikely we will get relegated and therefore not as big a risk as some are making out.

It’s a massive bollock that has been dropped. I really do hope it works out but I always said after GC left that we should have appointed within. At least temporarily until the end of the season. That way the same style of football would likely have been played. It has taken a bit of getting used to having a manager leave when you are at the other end of the table! Normally when we get rid of one, we need someone to come in and try something different to get us up the table! Like I said, I hope I am proved wrong and things go well for BG. I still think even if we continue to have a poor second half of the season the board with give BG the summer to get more of the players he wants.

I too would have preferred an internal appointment carrying on the team play in the style of GC. it wasn't pretty but it worked. At the moment things are neither pretty nor working.
Now Ben is here we've got to give him 100% support. It's a low risk appointment as we won't be relegated. He needs time - let's give him it. If by the season end things have not radically improved (both in terms of playing style and points accrued) it will be time to review the situation.
Its a gamble appointing anybody regardless of track record to a football managerial post. At the moment things look a little bleak but I'm willing to show some patience.

Good luck to BG in and outside the pitch and #UTG.

There's no one in particular I was thinking of right now, I'm just speaking to many insensitive comments I've seen on other places such as Facebook. You might want to relax a bit. No one's on trial.
