More permanent signings than I expected, lots of wingers/creative attackers, upgraded our strikers and goalkeeper (over JVS, not Jaak) and kept our talisman. Honestly, I'm delighted.

Replaced our ineffectual loanee strikers, increased our flexibility by recruiting wingers, added creativity in the midfield and bolstered our defence by recruiting another CB. All whilst getting Adeboyejo and Mensah off the wage bill and keeping our star striker. On the balance of things I would say it has been a very successful window.

Fantastic window for the Gas and although I've said before I don't think results will improve much in the next few months even with these new signings I do think we have a lot to be optimistic about going forward into next season.

Always difficult to say whether players will be successful or not. Signing 6 loans and permanent players is a sign of quantity not necessarily quality. But they come to us with good youth records and hopefully they can start developing good senior records. Last year the two signings were fitted into the team and we immediately got better, this year it’s not clear how many of them will go straight into the side. The signings, all being young players, seem to have been signed for the future even if some of them are loans. The two we’ve signed today, both being permanent, has made this a better window than it might have been this morning.
In the past DC always said he was going to sign lots of players which he rarely did, GC in his windows was honest last year and said it would be a case of players going out before others came in and it was successful. Last summer GC implied that he would sign an exciting midfielder which he never managed (not saying it was his fault). So when managers say things before the window I don’t take much notice because what they say rarely matches what happens, except GC this time last year. But it seems that BG has a plan. He said weeks ago that we needed more speed, width, energy and mobility in the team and these signings all seem to be players who match those qualities. He talks well about plans and how he wants to play, he now needs to show he can get that across to the players and turn good intentions into good results. I hope he gets the time to do that. I’m pretty sure he will get that from our owners. I just hope the fans give him that as well. UTG!

Not sure there's anything great about any of the signings given they are all untried youngsters. The good news is JCH is still here, we've a decent replacement for Anssi and Ginnelly looks an exciting signing. I still can't understand why we've still not replaced Lines but I guess we can't have anything.

I think he tried to run before he could walk during the first few weeks here and tried to change to much to soon. Then his family issue happened. But this is the most impressive January transfer window that I can remember.Re building for the future here.If we can mould this group between now and August we could be really strong for a promotion push next season. Fancy a victory tomorrow now.

Its a good window because it allows the manager to express himself by building the team to play in the style he wants. I thought it might just fizzle out into nothing much happening in january but wael has backed garner all the way. All we need now is some good results to get us all believing in the brave new ben garner world.

Don’t get too excited..... wait until they’ve played at least 10 games

I still can't understand why we've still not replaced Lines but I guess we can't have anything. I know! I don’t understand why this is already going down as Gaschat fact as the best window ever when we know nothing about the character of the players we have signed. To be fair this forum does tend to get ahead of itself a bit: I recall Mathews, Bennett, Nichols and Upson (amongst others) being talked up when they signed so you would think people would leave some of their powder dry by now... At best we have kept JCH (to be fair that makes it a decent window in and of itself) and added quantity to the squad. If we had signed the likes of Danny Mayor and Will Grigg, say, then I would be the first to say it’s been a bloody good window! But we aren’t the sort of club that signs players like that and I appreciate why that is. We have to cut our cloth accordingly and as such it leaves more questions than answers so we can’t say it’s a good window imo until most of the players we have signed have proven themselves to be good players, if the loanees prove to be good players we won’t be keeping hold of them so even if it’s a successful next few months it will be potentially bittersweet as there will need to be more transition to replace them. That’s life though I guess seeing as the new business model relies on developing other clubs players alongside our own. As an aside: where does the development squad fit in? Our own youngsters must be slipping further down the pecking order now we have so many bench options on loan from other clubs?

Wael certainly has backed Garner, it just makes the Al Quadis mystery even more baffling as to what is actually going on with them? Quite where the ITK gang go from here is anyone’s guess! 😁

On the face of it a very good window with not one 'journeyman' signed. Not expecting any great shakes for tthis season but looking forward to watching some of these youngsters play. The only downside is we still have Bennett on the books. Hopefully the ALQ's can 'gift' the club some cash to enable them to pay him off and get rid.

I think one major plus point is that most of them don’t come to us under the heavy burden of gashead expectations. Nichols and James were brought into the set up to replace the goals we’d lost and they couldn’t deliver on that expectation, Abraham and Daly arrive with no senior league experience and we know from Telford, Jakubiak and the two that have just left us that youngsters from clubs higher up the pyramid take time to acclimatise at this level. So all we ask from them is that they work hard and contribute when called upon, and if they get into goalscoring form that’s a plus rather than a demand. With Barrett we just hope to see more forward passes in a game than sideways or backwards and with Ginnelly and JML all we’ve really been promised there is that they will inject pace when we do attack and stretch the play. Harries looks comfortable on the ball and will have some wise heads around him to see him through but in essence all we ask of our young defenders is that if they make a ricket of it they learn from the mistake and become a better player for it. Only Blackman has any real burden of expectation on him, mainly because he’s got plenty of games under his belt and we’ve been spoilt with how well Lumley and Bonham worked out for us. His current record with us is conceding one goal every two games and we’d happily take that!

No journeyman pros just out to get a last paycheck, weve signed potential in the permanent signings and they shouldn't be expected to hit the ground running. For the first time after a window I'm satisfied with our business.
I've seen daly play a handful of times at under 21 level, I'm telling you that kid is a talent. Hope it means well be playing two up top as him and JCH could be a real handful for any defence

Well it's gonna be interesting! We've gone from tough to technical in a few months. I don't think BRFC have ever seen anything like this before. We have been brought up on Alfie Biggs, Smash and Grab and Devon White so welcome to a whole new era. Who knows if we will enjoy it or even if it will work. I suppose young players and young Manager means our club has a future. Does it? Well we hope so. Even more apt to say 'C'mon me babbers'

It seems to look like a great window, pretty sure no one was expecting this many signings either. I see the ITK’s have been quiet...
For me this buys Ben a good 10 games from here to be able to get this squad together and see essentially how good his signings actually are

Really good on paper, but let’s see. Certainly feels like Garner is stamping his mark on the squad, really hope he can get them playing the way he wants, and a win would be nice!
