Well done Pompey for beating Exeter. Proper cup tie even if it’s not a proper cup. Their trip to Wembley I suspect means our fixture will move to mid week

With them having won it last year, and Newport or Salford in the final, let's hope the attendance is low enough to discredit the competition

Pompey's side had an average age younger than Exeter's.

I think Pompey had more of their regular first teamers playing - even Browner couldn't get a game!
Surprised Exeter played a slightly weakened team but then their priority is promotion this season - just shows how devalued any of the cup competitions are nowadays.

Then it's Posh (a) Sat and Fleetwood (h) Tues Well they say playing whilst it's going well breeds more and more confidence, but I wonder if they will struggle with the number of games. It didn't do us any harm in 2007 though

It didn't do us any harm in 2007 though Ellis Harrison injured last night ? I see he got taken off in the 1st half ? Whatever you say about the Bury and Bolton farce this season and the 44 games, it's sure going to be a very exciting battle for the top 6 in L1 this season ! Oxford and The Gills won last night so they're not out of it. Sadly, we are not going to feature - a shame obviously with our pre-christmas form deserting us.

Given they missed out on promotion at the death last year then I can't understand why they've gone all the way again to the final, unless there plan is to ultimately just miss out again this season, which seems hard to believe.

That thought that they just missed out last year, possibly through the workload, crossed my mind too and I was about to edit my post above...
