With over 2/3s of the season gone where have we been strongest and weakest this season ?
I read a lot of posts saying there is no creativity in our team ! and that we are weak in the full back areas.
Where are we strongest ? and where are we weakest ?
I think we have been strongest in Goalkeeping ( The Jaak and Blackman - have both been terrific) - best for several seasons, followed by CBs - Kilgour and Menayese have been revelations, Craig incredibly consistent and Davies brilliant before his first injury.
The weakest is the forward line - we have struggled to find a partner for JCH ( Smith, Nichols and Adebojeyo all flattered to deceive) , and he himself has missed a few games. His form has also been patchy since Xmas (possibly cos he has had to play as a lone striker). curious to know if BG will play 2 up front once this Daly is fit ?? Is Craig our 2nd top scorer for league goals this season ??
May sound controversial here but our midfield has impressed me this season - when you compare to last season for sure. Upson and Ogogo have done really well, Sercombe too (sadly missed quite a few games), Ollie and Rodman probably average for them.

I think midfield is the area that really needs improvement. This is just my opinion, but O Clarke and Rodman are most at risk. They are just not good enough. I would also look to replace Ogogo & Upson. Sercombe would be a good squad player to have.

We are creating more chances in games, in the last 4/5 weeks than at any point of the entire season.

I don't agree about Rodman, as when he plays well he really helps the midfield to tick. Unfortunately, he only plays 2/3 good games, then has one poor one. We all know that Ollie hasn't been the same player since his injury earlier in the season, but I'm confident he can get back to his best. Ogogo and Upson are very important, but I think they'd be more effective if they rotated their appearances depending on the opposition. Cian Harries should be a good signing on paper (if we ever get a chance to see him play). Mitchell-Lawson has promise, and Barrett, Ginelly and Daly should show up well in a stronger, more estsblished set up in my opinion. JCH just needs a bit of support. I've not seen Little have a good game yet, and I had high hopes for him when he signed for us. Kilgour and Menayese both need to cut out silly errors from their games, but I'm sure that they both will, given the chances. Craig can still do a job, but probably only for one more season, but he does bring a wealth of experience to the team, a natural leader too.

But was his best even that good for a team aspiring to be near the top of L1?
I think Ollie's goals covered up his lack of everything else, and now even the goals have dried up....

That's a lot of L1 experience. Do you think they are all going downhill or some other reason ? I'd personally only look to move Rodman on because he's now about 32/33 and so nearing the end. Not sure about Ollie - of all these players he's probably the most two-footed of them and the best finisher, but he certainly hasn't hit the heights of last season. Personally, I'm always happy to see Ogogo, Upson and Sercs in the team when it's announced before a game and hope they're with us next season. Players I hope, like Daly and Barrett can provide the legs and skill offensively. I think two wide midfielders needed next season - on either flank.

Also with his goals, his shooting is not particularly great, he just has quite a few long range shots and the odd one will happen to go in.

Keeper strongest by a mile. Midfield by far the weakest - lack of creativity attributes to the chances afforded to the strikers. Defence had looked much better when we were a back 5, but all season been caught out by a fast & powerful opponent & no link into midfield. Forwards - meh. I think last few games have show an improvement & I think (hope) BG will be able to make further inroads in his way, in pre season. Don’t care what style we play, it’s results what counts.

We strongest in goal, central defence and our main striker. All these areas are comparable with the very best in L1. It is also comforting to know that these positions form the central spine of the team.
The rest (e.g. fullbacks, midfield) are simply not up to standard. The biggest area of weakness is a pedestrian midfield lacking in pace, creativity and technique. The midfield players seem reasonably adept at containing the opposition but that's it. If the team is to be more expansive we need a blend of midfield blend that is effective in both containment and creativity.
All future acquisitions should be very good L1 players with the potential to improve. Classic example JCH. Also take a gamble on a couple of young non league players. With the appropriate training, encouragement and patience these players could prove to be very cheap investments. Classic example Rollin.

Our defence was the strongest area, but going to a flat back four has opened a chink of light which opposition teams are finding. I think we are too slow in midfield getting from Box to Box, and we need at least 1 (better 2) up front players that can score goals regulary
