From somebody who was at the meeting:- Willingham helped us out. He basically said approval would be tantamount to child cruelty if they lost sleep as a result. The chairman then proceeded to wipe the floor with him. Then one of the ladies on the committee lost her rag with him and said she didn't join the committee to be accused of child cruelty, and as a result said she intended therefore to vote in favour, which she duly did.
Sounds like Cllr Willingham rather shot himself in the foot! Former Cllr Willingham www.bishopstonvoice.co.uk/cllr-willingham-stands-down-to-pursue-career.htmlYou sense not many liked him when he was an elected representative and today gave them a chance to show it.

So the celebrating on their forum is slight OTT?! We've got to celebrate something. BTW ggmi - don't bother going on OTIB. I used to do it and I got all bitter and twisted. Let them say what they want to and we'll go our own way. Says the man with the dead robin as his profile pic!

This is my favourite bewildered quote of the day. Tim Malnick, a Green Party councillor for the local Bishopston ward said he was "staggered by the result".
"There were concerns about mental health issues and sleep disruption and I didn't see many of the committee members take those issues on board enough to ask officers questions," said Mr Malnick.www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-30026177

There's another one who's a little bit dim. I almost feel sorry for them. Theyre doing the best they can with what they have. Its not their fault they are a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

Another step in the right direction, but what's to say Sainsburys aren't about to try another of their get out of jail free cards? The delivery hours was obviously something minor they thought would give them a get out, what if they now say something like "we're buying bigger deliver lorries so need a wider access road". Something that would require more planning. I'm sure they could think of something that'd not be permitted by the council which could break the deal. How long can they keep doing this for before their attempts are seen for what they are?

In that case they would defo be in breach of contract.

Sainsburys can order the biggest lorries in the world. Makes no difference to the original contract which we have now honoured in full.

Who was that goalkeeper who played for England that made a monumental mistake and as the ball was slowly passing the line he was scrabbling around in the dirt like gollum from lord of the rings desperately trying to get a grip on it?
That's what I'm reminded of by these comments. They are just so so far removed from normal sensible opinions that its cringe worthy at best.
Again, the fact they are quite happy to vote against planning officers on the back of no evidence knowing they would lose any costly appeal just highlights what utter contempt they treat our public money with. We work our backsides off so that these people can push their political agenda regardless of the actual impact on the people they claim to represent. They are detestable.

Although you sense there's now little chance of Sainsbury's ever delvering anything to the site.
