Listening to Talk Sport last night, they asked fans the following question,' of players who belonged to your club and who you saw play ,which one would you love to have in todays team?' Now the older you are the harder it is and i considered very many, from the original Alfie ,Harold(the greatest)Wayne jones, David Williams, and so on and so on, but using the criteria of what we need right now i decided that at the back ,when every one is fit we are ok, so its midfield or striker, in the old days midfield was not a position you were either defender or forward so would have to be midfielder from 70s onwards and my winner for his ability ,creativity, and leadership would have to be Ollie! but my final vote and selection goes to a strike partner to compliment JCH, there were many to consider but i wanted some one who scored from every where on the pitch ,one yard ,30 yard left ,right and centre and the player i believe would be of the greatest benefit to us at the moment is Jamie Cureton, what i hear ye cry!, well who would you choose! that should waste some of that time you have on yer hands in these worrying times .

Seeing as we have no real wingers then I’d go for Kenny Stephens but we have a problem midfield so we would need to take onboard the midfield players who could create and score so David Mehew would get my vote if push cane to shove

We don’t create too much so I’d go for a midfielder. David Williams, Wayne Jones, Harold Jarman. Harold Jarman then, he’s never let us down whether as player (despite the stick from the North Enclosure at Eastville), nor as manager nor in any other of the many capacities he filled. UTG!

I think I would go for Matty Taylor, he knows where the goal is and most of those mentioned above would be too old now anyway.

Jason Roberts, he would run half this division ragged.

He was ok but missed a lot to, his misses nearly cost us promotion v Daggers, but entitled to be chosen, also bit of time travel involved in this thread and players allowed to be 'magically ' transported to present age !

David Williams - class act in the middle. Or, when he could be bothered, the Latvian.

Holloway.
He would be a leader on and off the pitch
Same for Mans.
I still dont think we ever replaced Disley.

Wouldn't mind seeing either Penrice or Tillson in their prime play for us again.

That was the dilemma, midfielder or striker, both badly needed, seeing as Harold is my all time best Rover cant disagree, but i thought the North enclosure was his own private fan club?

Was it the South Enclosure that had a period of moaning at him? It was certainly one of the two earlier on in his career. You’d probably know, I think you have a couple of years on me. 😉 UTG!

Marcus Stewart. I still think he’s the best player I’ve seen in a Rovers shirt. Just had all the qualities you’d want in a striker.
