I have two!. Jonson Clarke Harris will go down as my top 5 striker of all time. Unlike Cureton Roberts Hayles Ellington Lambert etc I believe he was a free . Also Nigel Martyn must be one of the best signings ever and considered a 'local hero' in Cornwall.
Who else exceeded beyond expectations ??

Will Hoskens, what a talent! To date I've not seen a player in the gas shirt who looked so comfortable on the ball as he did. His goals saved us that season.
Another player we let go far to cheap! Shame injuries got the better of him elsewhere.

Hate him but Matty Taylor.
Wouldn’t be where we are today without his goals.
Best hold/link up play I’ve seen to date.

Billy Bodin. Had a slow start to life at the gas but really came into his own in the second half of the league two season and was superb for us there onwards, majestic with the ball at his feet.
From the current squad I’d argue that Jaakkola and Craig have been excellent additions that we’ve picked up for nothing.

Great shout, I think Bodin has to go down as one of the rare occasions when signing a "sicknote" has paid off big time. I felt Preston got an absolute bargain with him, what a talent. Someone I'd go for as an amazing free transfer is Mark "Wally" Walters. Signed as an aging winger from Swindon, but he was an absolute joy to watch in that 99/00 season.

Did we not get relegated that year he was with us?

Devon white played a few games for lincoln but then dropped down into non league before being spotted by gerry francis. 53 goals in 202 appearances plus a bucket load of assists makes him one of the best freebies we have ever had.

His goals didn't save us but they made us take it down to the wire instead of relegation confirmed in March!

I think Wood Hoskins would have kept Rovers up, near playoffs even.

Possibly the 1989-90 side will go down as one of the best . What about David Mehew goals in promotion season. I don't think he ever played at professional level before and everyone said Who ?.
David Mehew

Lost 6-2 at The Owls. Will scored our 2, both crackers. Horrible game. Freezing cold and got spanked. Agreed two great goals and the only player on the pitch wearing blue and white quarters who looked like he could be bothered that day. I just about made it to supporters coach as it was pulling away from the ground. Oh how I wished I could have missed that coach that day.

Hoskins was insane. I thought he was better than Lambert but obviously Lambert went on to improve his game a lot and Will suffered with injuries.

On the subject of Rovers he said " David came a bit after me having convinced him " ; meaning Leeds.
