Great memories.
It’s only just dawned on me the brilliant take down, control, strength and pass and then to run on from Lambert that made the first goal. I’ve probably watched that about 100 times as well as being there and only just appreciated it.

Fantastic day. All three goals were absolute class - Walkers two finishes were absolute class and wouldn't have looked out of place at any level. The build up to the first through was brilliant.

“It was the most special group of players, even in the coaching career after, I’ve ever worked with,” Paul Trollope said.
“There was a bond and togetherness with that group. A great set of lads and I was honoured to lead that group and call them my players.
“I’ve been very fortunate in my career. I’ve been in football since I left school. It’s one of the, if not the, finest achievements of my career.
“I’m really proud and honoured to have managed the club. It’s a club that’s always close to my heart. It’s a wonderful place in a great part of the world.”

Richard walker would be right up there with my all time list of best Rovers finishers, the two in this game were of the highest class and its only his ability which made them look easy, as for Sammy well ,probably the greatest single moment in my time of watching the Rovers and that is a long time! Sammy not with us long but long enough to create that magical moment, am i right that same two players scored at the Millennium ? not many players have that claim to fame!

Only three players have ever scored at Wembley and Millennium in the same season. Those two and, I think, Didier Drogba.

A great day, and weekend that was! Was at uni at the time. Managed to get nine uni mates to come with me (sold them on first trip to the new Wembley). Went up the day before, stayed at one of our mates in Bromley. Night out in Croydon. Next morning made our way to Leicester Square which is still one of my favourite pre match gatherings of all time. Completely shattered on the way home that evening!

I’ve probably watched that about 100 times as well as being there and only just appreciated it. Yes and the determination of Ryan Green to get to the bye line. For me this encapsulates what footie is all about, skill and determination. A mix of GC and BG could they hypothetically have worked together? Doubt it but an interesting thought! Just realised after watching the clip that Sammy's shot was perfectly timed as he was just about to be knobbled. Perfect direction, just wish it was a bit harder as it was a bit of a strain on the heart strings😊
