No idea who's in contract and who's not. Player list from wikipedia, ignoring loans other than Tommy N
Pretty sure this has been done before but now we're hitting transfer season at this weird time.
1 Netherlands GK Jordi van Stappershoef - Keep, decent reserve 32 Finland GK Anssi Jaakkola --keep
2 England DF Mark Little - Release 3 England DF Tareiq Holmes-Dennis - Release (too injured) 5 England DF Tony Craig (Vice Captain) -- Keep, but don't think he will be staying 11 England DF Luke Leahy -- release 15 England DF Alfie Kilgour -- keep 16 England DF Tom Davies --keep 18 Scotland DF Michael Kelly -- resigned anyway 22 England DF Josh Hare -- keep 24 Wales DF Rollin Menayese -- resigned anyway 25 Wales DF Cian Harries -- Under contract
4 England MF Abu Ogogo (3rd Captain) -- Keep 6 England MF Ed Upson -- keep 7 England MF Liam Sercombe -- keep 8 England MF Ollie Clarke (Captain) -- Release, best for both parties he gets a fresh start 23 England MF Kyle Bennett --help move him to Swindon 26 England MF Sam Matthews -- keep 33 England MF Alex Rodman --release (sorry pal, too old and inconsistent) 36 England MF Cameron Hargreaves -- keep, assume under contract or would have gone the other day 39 Republic of Ireland MF Josh Barrett -- Under contract
9 England FW Jonson Clarke-Harris -- keep 17 England FW James Daly -- under contract 20 Scotland FW Gavin Reilly -- release 10 England FW Tom Nichols -- release with a heavy heart, not cutting it
Leaves us with gk x2 rb x 1 lb x 1 cb x5 CM x4 RM x 0 LM x 0 FW x 2
3 out in defence, 3 out in midfield, 2 out upfront
Needing 2 x RM, 2x LM, 2x ST, 1x LB, 1x RB with balanced numbers to balance the squad but I think we also need 1 or 2 midfielders and another decent striker on that list. We remain a bit heavy in Midfield with this.

We remain a bit heavy in Midfield with this. I almost agree with every single in/outs you suggested. Sadly: T.H.D and Little never fulfilled their potential and are too injury prone. All well and good signing championship quality until historical injuries keep coming back. Both good players when fit. I would keep Leahy and think he is a decent div 3 left back. We must keep LIAM SERCOMBE who I think is quality in the right midfield setting . This means one of the experience midfielders may have to go. I'm mixed about Rodman but will accept it !. What about Tomlinson and Alex the goalie ?

Left off the youngsters who haven’t been getting game time - thinking them to have already been covered off by the announcement the other day. Tomlinson got game time under GC though of course. Rate the kid a lot personally - surprised BG didn’t give him a go.

Hard to tell re the injured players like Mark Little and THD as this ‘break’ in football may have really helped their recoveries and if fit they are decent players at this level. Personally I’d retain and maybe restructure their contracts to a bare minimum salary with pay as you play top up.
Personally I’d keep Rodman - if we’re looking at younger, more raw players to develop rather than older established players then we will need experienced heads around them such as Rodman and his versatility and to be frank he is ok at this level is important.
I don’t think there will be lots of funds available this summer and I also think we need to go careful on making too large a wholesale change as time to gel will be a factor... that’s why I think we saw the influx we did in Jan and I’m hopeful that Daly and Barrett will have settled now and have greater impacts and play more this coming season.

Agree with most but would keep Rodman. Intelligent player, good in the air, chips in with a few goals. Might not be the quickest anymore but a good role model and I think could make a good coach.

Agree with this - I have a similar opinion on Rodman... I’d personally keep THD and Little (assuming they are able to get and stay fit) and Rodman. I’d let Nichols go (reluctantly as I think there’s a player there but his confidence is shot with us and I see Daly playing more), I’d let Reilly go, I’m undecided on Ollie Clark but I think he’ll stay and I’d keep Leahy and Craig (but as player coach for Craig). Personally I think we need a new striker and a couple of wingers (1 x LW and 1 x RW) with the development squad stepping up more - this is predicated on Little and THD staying and being fit and TC and OC staying (and JCH not being sold).

1 Netherlands GK Jordi van Stappershoef - Keep 32 Finland GK Anssi Jaakkola Keep
Happy with our keepers, Great shot stopper in Ansii and a decent backup for him.
2 England DF Mark Little - Release 3 England DF Tareiq Holmes-Dennis Release 5 England DF Tony Craig (Vice Captain) Keep 11 England DF Luke Leahy Release 15 England DF Alfie Kilgour Keep 16 England DF Tom Davies Keep 18 Scotland DF Michael Kelly Re-signed 22 England DF Josh Hare Keep 24 Wales DF Rollin Menayese Re-signed 25 Wales DF Cian Harries -- Under contract
The same as the OP for the defence, decent centre halves (although numbers may have to be trimmed) but room to improve for the fullbacks. Leahy is not a good left back for league one and only mediocre wingback, Little and THD although decent on their day, but are injured too often to keep their places in the team unfortunately.
4 England MF Abu Ogogo Keep 6 England MF Ed Upson Release 7 England MF Liam Sercombe Keep 8 England MF Ollie Clarke (Captain) Release - might be controversial in saying this but he needs to move on. 23 England MF Kyle Bennett Transfer List - waste of wage really. 26 England MF Sam Matthews Release - Needs to find a new club. 33 England MF Alex Rodman Keep 36 England MF Cameron Hargreaves Keep 39 Republic of Ireland MF Josh Barrett Under contract
Central midfielders another area of the squad that needs to be improved, don't have someone that will take the ball up the pitch and attempt the killer balls like Chris Lines used to do. If possible getting Mitchell-Lawson back for another loan stint would be excellent.
9 England FW Jonson Clarke-Harris Keep - no brainer. 17 England FW James Daly under contract 20 Scotland FW Gavin Reilly Release 10 England FW Tom Nichols Release
Again, the forward position is something that might need some strengthening in the summer. Reilly and Nichols don't really cut the mustard which only leaves us with Clarke-Harris and Daly and whilst I'm looking forward to seeing that partnership, I think we need more options there.

Interesting one. What are your thoughts there? He’s one of maybe two players who might go this summer that I’d be pretty miffed if we didn’t manage to retain.

That’s a massive turnover and whilst a lot of free agents will be available, it will result in signing on fees and agents fees etc... I’d also be nervous on getting a team gelling in the first half of the season with that size of turnover. It’s one of the reasons we tend to struggle in Sept - Nov and why I think Coughlin benefitted at the start of this season as he had the bulk of a team from the season before

Unfortunately we're stuck with Garner and he's going nowhere just yet. As things stand with this lot, we are 'banged on' for relegation next season IMO with this manager and these players.

Players/agents are going to have to be more realistic regarding signing on fees and wages in light of current events.

If THD was fit and on a pay as you play type contract, would you keep him on? I think he has the quality - it’s just fitness that’s been the problem

FW Tom Nichols -- release with a heavy heart, not cutting it Release Nicholls with a heavy heart? It's his wallet that's heavy from the living he's been stealing from the club for 3 seasons not his heart. I genuinely never expect him to play at league one level ever again.

Problem with that is we'd still have to set aside £x amount from the playing budget in case he played every game whilst also signing a back up LB in case he spent 90% of the season out injured yet again, although is his contract up this summer anyway?

Good points and it's a tough decision to call. I think he is out of contract but don't know for definite.
