That's a shame - he was known to be a bit of a prickly character, wasn't he ?

That's a great interview there. Walker certainly loves The Gas !

Great chat and very enlightening, at the time i was mystified why he did not get am fair crack of the whip at league 1 and the way it ended for him does the club no credit . WE all know he was not the quickest but he always seemed to have plenty of time when it mattered and if i had to pick a striker to put a vital chance away in a vital game it would be Richard! Some strikers score a lot but miss just as many , Matt Taylor to name one, take THE Daggers game, imo, Richard would have had a hat trick with the chances Taylor had , he would not have hit the post and Browner's moment of glory would never have happened! Interesting insight into the Trolls /Lennie relationship which would appear to be much different to how i imagined it, Hope to see Richard at the Mem soon where he can be properly thanked for his not insignificant contribution to Rovers history, as for Sammy, he's probably still knackered from running the length of Wembley for that goal! thanks for the wonderful memories Richard and i will be looking out for Beer fc results in future!

Good read. Another period in rovers history when we should have gone on to a higher level but threw it away. We really had some good players during that period. I still get anxious now that igoe’s shot isn’t going to cross the line.

Very good read … I had forgotten he didn't get chance to say a proper Good Bye - I remember cheering them all at College Green and the Chant for RW to sign a new contract!!
Interesting to read about the other side of Lennie Lawrence - Boo to you Lennie !!

Good player. I always hoped we'd re-sign him when lambert left. I think he was playing for burton at the time. Very much in the Peter beadle or Rory gaffney mould.

I was very sorry when he was released, A big mistake by the management. He had a natural instinct for a goal.

Walker was a really good player. He had a striker's instinct for the goal and that can't be taught. His one drawback was the lack of pace. With that attribute he could have played at the highest level.

Really enjoyed reading that. Walker was a proper favourite of mine, he was slow but my god he played smart. What a finisher he was, I'm still not sure I've seen a more natural finisher since.
What a squad that was though - some really legendary names thrown about there.
Some great memories there.
I'm off to watch the Donny game, Lincoln games, Shrewsbury, Southampton & Rickie's debut goal.

Speak to rich often after he played in the charity game last year, he’s an absolutely fantastic bloke. Proper loves the gas, in fact all the players from that era are absolutely quality people.
