Jakkola is probably the best Rovers goalkeeper since Nige Martyn. In my humble opinion of course.

Anssi Jaakkola is a fantastic shot stopper and a top keeper by L1 standards. Van Stappershoef has come in and looked like a more than capable backup when Jaakkola's been on International duty. Alexis-Andre is young, in the Moroccan U23 setup and looks to have decent potential in the future or we wouldn't have given him a new contract.
So yeah, we're stronger in the Goalkeeping department now than we have been for a long time IMO.

First game of the season away at Blackpool, when he gave away that penalty I thought here we go again..
But he’s been quality to say the least. Lucky to have him.

Yep ,i came away from the Blackpool game very underwhelmed by our new man between the sticks, he's certainly dispelled any doubts i had and from being a problem position post Mild's its prob now our strongest department, new contract for Alex another good sign that we are investing in our youth.

Hoping that Anssi is fit and raring to go ….
Personally do not think the Big Dutchman is anywhere near good enough ...reactions are way too slow and many on here were bemoaning the fact the during his tenure 'Anssi would have stopped that'. I would let him go without a doubt.
We had Blackman for free apparently with Chelsea covering all his wages .. I would like to see us sign him now, have him and Anssi compete for the No 1 spot. Before anyone says what about wages … he is a L1 Shop stopper, will never get a chance at Chelsea and I'm sure would rather settle for a Club where he has a chance to play.

I don’t think JVS is great but I don’t think it’s realistic to have a back up keeper of an equivalent standard to Anssi, that probably applies to every level of football. Can anyone name many clubs where the number two is of similar quality to the first choice keeper? I can’t imagine there are many?
I only saw Andre briefly when Slocombe was sent off. TBH I felt the same level of confidence in him as I would if an outfield player had put the gloves on. Hope I’m wrong but don’t think he’ll make it.

I like our two GK's... Andre's new contract is similar to giving Michael Kelly a new deal. You can only imagine that he's on peanuts otherwise three keepers is a luxury at our level. Whatever happened to that development keeper Liam Armstrong who was touted as a better prospect than Andre in some quarters.. Not heard of him for a long time, can only assume that he's been released this summer?

Agree about the big Dutchman. Far too slow getting down to some shots and footwork not the best. Even in the warm-up I watch him closely and he is far from convincing.

He got injured, I think whilst out on loan to Salisbury, earlier in the year. He did however, sign his first professional deal in 2018, so his contract might be ending and with no extension being announced as with the others recently, he might not be on the retained list, which I expect to be announced tomorrow or Wednesday. He is still very young though (three or four years younger than Andre) so I hope he still has a future at the Club.

Thought our first goal conceded at MK Dons was pretty poor, in line with what I have heard about other performances I am sure we should be able to get an upgrade on JVS, if not full first team quality.

Anssi is a really good goalkeeper - one of the very best in L1.
I can see no reason why Blackman would come to Rovers. He, too, is a good goalkeeper but not quite as good as Anssi. He will never get a game in Chelsea's first team but would be perfectly competent as a first choice in L1.
