Nope, never felt he showed us any respect, he was nothing till he came to us and was party to one of the most underhand transfer deals in history, i would have had no problem with him wanting to do the best for himself and family but his whole demeanour during his last few months with us left a lot to be desired and he disrespected us in a big way, No. This reflects my thinking as well. UTG!

I would take matty taylor 'the player' all day long as I think he is what we need.. Matty Taylor the character is a bit of a different story. I don't think it will happen.. As others have said, he's had a hugely successful time on loan at his home town club and I'm sure his permanent signing is probably a done deal. Anyway, I think all of those pre teenage yoblets calling him a 'paedo' when he was walking along the back of the family enclosure earlier in the season along with the disgusting abuse he received from their parents has probably put paid to his desire to return to the club who launched/made him anyway..

If City won promotion would we get some money as part of a sell on clause? You can’t have a sell on clause on the terms that Taylor left under. City were the only club to meet the release clause so after that the negotiations were purely between City and the player, we had no further leverage to get any more out of the deal than the release clause value.

Him and jch upfront would win games on their own in this division. But cant see it happening as too much history between fan base and player now

What a 20+-a-season goal-scorer? I'd bite your hand off to have MT back! Though we well and truly burnt that bridge when he returned earlier in the season. LOL. He got dogs.
Quick question as a loan player can he play for Oxford in Play-offs? I'm sure loan players haven't been able to in the past due to timescales / end of season / contract details (though Covid has disrupted timescales)?

If he gets Oxford to the Championship they will need to get near his wages to keep him.

Him and JCH would set this league alight, but his move South of the river and the fall out that followed, sadly rules out any return to us.

If another goalscorer to partner JCH is the difference between success in L1 then you've just got to swallow your pride and accept someone like Taylor returning if it presented itself. I don't particularly like the guy but who cares if we do well because of him?
Don't think we have any chance of signing him though, he'll be wanted by a lot of the L1 big spenders I reckon.

Quite simply - we cannot afford him

I would take him back, he is a cracking player. I never blamed him for leaving Rovers, a player gets only one shot at making a career for himself, and he was offered triple wages, he contributed massively to our two promotions and should be cheered not jeered.

I really like th guy, popular beyond belief while here, he was a major reason we got promoted twice an i didn't hate on him even when he left.
So he earned respect for his good side, sadly he did let himself down with his attitude apres leaving.
So in summary Matthew Taylor did some bad, Matthew Taylor did some good, so in keeping with current popular scenarios . . . throw him in Bristol Harbour.

Be stupid to say no. One of the best strikers about at this level Adam Johnson would be the best midfielder in the league at this level but I wouldn't have him here either.... Before someone insinuates I am, ofcourse I'm not in the slightest comparing the 2 of them, just stating the fact that there's more to wanting someone to join than just their ability. The way he left and who he left for still agitates some fans, also things he's said/done while he's been there such as having a picture holding a toy snake makes it seem he still doesn't seem to care about our fans and, in my view, shows he has zero respect for us. Tbh I think he'll sign for Oxford even if they don't go up.

My head says yes. Excellent finisher and would create a deadly partnership with JCH. But my heart says no. Too much has happened and the potential for bad feeling is too great. He could score 9 winning goals in a row and miss a sitter in the 10th game and the hatred would be overwhelming.
