Many moons ago when I played for the Rovers Yoof , Roy Dolling was in charge and my abiding memory of him was hearing him shout “ Easy, Easy...... give it easy” Funny things stick in your head !

My nan used to work with his daughter at frys. Will always be remembered for saving jocks life when he swallowed his tongue in an fa cup tie home to Fisher athletic.. Doubled up as our physio and youth development officer.. Great man.. Roy and Carl Saunders came to see me when I broke my leg a week after we lost to tranmere at Wembley. Great, great servant to BRFC

Correct, isn’t it impossible to swallow your tongue?

Yeah that rings a bell now re the dentures... You're right it is impossible. Apparently the tongue can sit at the back of the throat and cover the wind pipe and stop you breathing and needs to be removed. The whole swallowing the tongue thing was a bit of a footy headline in the 80s and terrified me playing kids football whenever a story like that came out

Great, great find Pete.. Big thubs up for this.. What a weasel of a Doctor, trying to worm his way out of it.. Looks ridiculous in that bow tie, models his appearance on penfold and has a stupid name to boot.. Looks like a real 'quack' and tried to blame his son with a really lame excuse.. I bet he'd got away with being late or not turning up and being 'on call' for years. Just goes to show what an absolute gas hero Roy is.

Denis Dunford and Roy both interviewed in their portakabin 'offices' in the car park at frys.. Those were the days!

I still have some VHS tapes out in the garage. Unfortunately some have got mould on them. Also I'm a bit lazy converting them. I should really get it done.

Got no idea.. He'd be 84 now but I'd assume there would've been something in the press and from the club if he'd passed so pretty sure he's still going but where and doing what, I have no idea sorry.

I was doing my ball boy duties that day, on the popular side, think it was a Sunday? I was proper frightened, watching jocks leg twitching, as Roy did his magic.

I was the fourth official. Think it was a Fa Cup fixture against Fisher Athletic. I can remember being warned that it was not good at the time. Thankfully Roy saved the day.
