Isn't he from Portishead? A drive down the M5 and subsequently the A38 is pretty commutable I'd say. Not that I'm keen for him to leave though. Still a hell of a commute and one I wouldn't want to regularly make, but then professional footballers hardly have to do a full days graft. I'd rather we kept OC with his 200+ apps than gamble on another Josh Barrett myself, particularly as he's clearly highly regarded within the club. I have had to travel to Plymouth for work a few times in the last couple of years, I certainly wouldn't consider it an easy commute. The M5 is renowned for accidents and massive tailbacks, four plus hours a day in a car is not something I would like to consider. I would like to see him stay, if it's not for him then good luck where ever he ends up.

I can’t see what there is to laugh about. Watched him for years - theplus points were some of the goals he scored and his commitment. The downsides outweighed the plus points by a country mile. Consider : Too many yellow cards meant Maybe two suspensions per season Too many misplaced simple passes handing possession back to the opposition Too many bad games indicating unacceptable cosistency. I’m in the SteveK camp here - he’s not good enough for league one. To say Hargreaves/Russe can do his job “equally if not better” is what’s funny.

He's just unfortunate to be out of contract while Upson and Ogogo have another another year left. Baby we can talk all night But that ain't gettin us nowhere I told you everything I possibly can There's nothing left inside of here And maybe you can cry all night But that'll never change the way I feel The snow is really piling up outside I wish you wouldn't make me leave here I poured it on and I poured it out I tried to show you just how much I care I'm tired of words and I'm too hoarse to shout But you've been cold to me so long I'm crying icicles instead of tears And all I can do is keep on telling you I want you, I need you But-there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you Now don't be sad 'Cause two out of three ain't bad

We're currently haemorrhaging experience left, right and centre. I'd like to keep Oliver. Add to that an inexperienced manager. Interesting times ahead but hey ho thats part of the joys of being a Gashead

Can't we at least give him at least pre-season with his own players before slagging him off? He's managed to convince Wael to spend money at The Colony which is more than DC or GC ever managed.

That's 32nd out of 33 permanent appointments. Dave Penney was better. Dave Penney.

Russe made his debut 3 years ago yet still has not pushed on from that. 3 managers haven’t preferred him to OC so there’s no evidence to suggest he could do the job equally. As to CH, perhaps, he’s where Luke R was 3 years ago, just getting his chance. I’d hope both can make it but at the moment it would be hope over expectation. UTG!

The move will be good for him to re energise his career as last season did show a dip in his form.

He hasn't been very good for the last season, maybe a change would be good for him

I hope Ollie does stay. I think he would acknowledge his season has been disappointing. He has had a difficult season, not helped by some time out injured, but he is still an experienced, committed player that offers a lot more than some on this forum seem to recognise. He is not the creative midfileder we are seeking, but he never was that type of player, so it is unfair to blame him for that lack of creativity in a midfield trio consisting of Clarke himself, Upson, and Ogogo, which through necessity proved a solid foundation. But if we were to lose Abs and Upson for the same game (as has happened this season) then suddenly our midfield does not seem so strong.
And yes, sentiment does come into it - I know it shouldn't, but for me it does matter! It is great seeing a local lad come through the ranks and I would love him to add another 200 appearances for The Gas (through improved, and consistently significant performances).
I do not think Ben Garner plans on using that trio together anyway, but will look to use one or two of them as the solid base with Josh Barrett and Cameron Hargreaves featuring more regularly. I think those loan signings of Ginnelly and Mitchell-Lawson are an indicator of not only the type of player, but also the style of play that Ben will be striving to achieve. And to achieve that he will need the likes of Ollie to break up play, win the ball, and hopefully, lay off a simple pass to the more creative or pacier players to attack with.
Regardless, I do hope Ollie has been offered a genuine contract, and not one too poor for him to accept just to say it was his decision to leave, because I do believe he deserves the respect of Ben and the Club. And us Gasheads too!
UTG!

OC has been a great servant to the club, if he stays then great we have an experienced player who is Bristol Rovers through and through whose performances are generally good. My feelings are that he needs a fresh challenge away from home that will re-energise his career. Whatever he chooses he deserves utmost respect for his efforts in our shirt.
