I met an old friend today and reminded him quite randomly him he drove us from rural Herefordshire to see Rovers play City in DIV 2 at Ashton Gate on Tuesday 1st April 1975. He couldn't remember anything about it but I recall it was a 1-1 draw which boosted Rovers survival hopes and dented City's promotion aspirations. Can anyone remind me who scored in this match? I've tried to find details online with no success.

We finished that season pretty well with lots of points away if I remember and of course 1-1 against Man U. UTG!

Thanks Wareham. I am a Hereford fan but have always had a soft spot for Rovers. My Dad took me to my first ever Football League match in December 1966 at Eastville. - Rovers 0 - Watford 3.

No problem deanos. It was a good match for us, getting anything at Ashton Gate is always good. Unfortunately it’s been a few years since we did. UTG!

When I joined the RAF at Credenhill Hereford 62/63 we watched Hereford United and had to attend games in full best uniform.Terraces were old wooden railway sleepers and the mighty John Charles was player manager.Ronnie Radford and Ricky George played.Colin Addison took over as manager later.

There have been quite a few players who have played for Rovers and Hereford. Andy Reece, Andy Williams, Marcus Browning, Bobby Gould and Ryan Green to name some.

I recall Edgar Street having the narrowest turnstiles I have ever seen. A mate of a mate got wedged in, so they had to open the gates especially!

Only time I’ve been there was October 73 a 0-0 draw. Part of our unbeaten run which led to promotion. Smash and grab season though they didn’t that night. Evening match, great atmosphere. UTG!
