We are so unpredictable! We can lose our high flying manager and our captain to a team in a lower division one minute and then snap up a genuinely promising player from under the noses of a newly-promoted club the next! I still feel we need some more experience somewhere in the spine of the side - JCH signing a contract would help on that score. That looked an impossibility a few weeks ago but who knows now.
Welcome to the club, Josh!

Maybe we could tempt Egbo here too one day.

Good signing and good start to the summer's incomings. Three-year deal too so faith being put into his development.
I'm expecting him to sit at the base of midfield in a 4-1-4-1 / 4-3-3.

Delighted with this .... if we announce Max Ehmer any time soon I might just have to look in the whisky bottle to see if I can muster together a bet on a successful season!
Excellent addition BG ... very Well Done Sir!

Looks a great prospect and I'm well pleased! If by his words " my favourite position is holding midfield" then where does that leave Ogogo?

This looks a good signing. Any successful team has quality players through its spine. We have those now. Next season starting to look very promising.

Welcome to the club, Josh! We didn't really "lose" OC we offered him a new contract so poor it was bettered by a L1 side, it's pretty clear we weren't too fussed if he stayed or left, particularly given Kilgour and Jaakkola were clearly offered decent contract extensions.

I rate Ogogo but as for upson I'd like to see him off the wage bill and be replaced.

Upson is a holding player, his position in the team is more likely under threat from the new arrival

Think you re spot on looks a great signing, testament to Ben whilst some on here dont rate him obviously impressed josh. lots of comments regarding midfield. He signed for Plymouth as a defender and was switched to "midfield". As I see it as midfield the player plays in front of the defence, behind the attack and inside the wing? So there now seems to be a defence midfield, attack midfield and holding midfield? So does that mean an attacking midfielder is no good at defending and vice versa and a holding midfielder is no good at either? Or simply one is more able at attacking or defending so is not a complete midfielder? So Booby Moore Captain World Cup 66 Player was what a "defensive, attacking holding midfielder. Don't see that label attached to any player recently! Perhaps the term has creeped into the football language based on instructions from the manager based on the strengths of the opposing team? I vividly remember watching a certain struggling team in the old 1st Div whose left full back who was a fine player but if he collected the ball from the goal line would put his head down and easily sprint past all opposing players until his view saw the half way line and then he would immediately kick the ball any where or pass back to his keeper and immediately return to his full back position. I don't ever remember him go over the halfway line even if the space in front was completely empty of opposing players. Surely a managers tactics not the player ability or attacking v defensive position label? Your comment reflects how I see team positions being even more finely defined which I think now is too much to hear? The water carrier is a ...... holding midfielder? I always felt this term was disparaging and disrespectful? How would one describe Kante at Leicester and at Chelsea? Players play differently to one another, even in the same positions, irrespective of team tactics and instructions. If a player sees an opportunity then they should go for it (unless it is the last few minutes of a game where you need to jeep the ball and not let them score). I always regarded Ogogo as a stopper in the Sinclair mould but not similar to him in an attacking sense. He also needs to change his studs as he always seems to end up on the ground? Upson is different; I think teams have got wise to him and tend to overpower him physically (which you could probably say about most of our players last 2 seasons?). What we lack most in the middle is creativity and the ability to control and make simple passes consistently. I think the main area to strengthen is up front with partners for JCH? This has been lacking since he joined us? If JCH goes, god forbid, then ..... On a much positive note, the changes in the team seem positive and are getting well received by the fans? Our record on loan signings in last 2 seasons is not what I would call a success? Looking forward to seeing the new players soon. UTG

Welcome to the Gas Josh! Really exciting signing, this is exactly the sort of signing we need in terms of our new approach to sustainability. He's done well at L2 and now L1 is his next step. Fingers crossed he'll be a success and help us to the next level or we can eventually get a good fee for him. That is obviously the strategy we're aiming for from now on. Exactly, imo there is a big difference between signing lads who’ve only ever know the academy environment and one who has proved they can compete in the league. So on paper this seems an actual decent signing.
