It's just my opinion ,but....
Let's be fair and realistic.
How many seasons have Rovers finished 10th in league 1 or higher up the pyramid.
1950s All 10 seasons 1960s 5 seasons 1970s All 10 seasons 1980s 7 seasons 1990s 8 seasons
Up to this point a 10th spot or higher appears to be a very realistic demand.
However. 2000s 1 season 2010s 1 season
So to put demands on a top ten finish is a bit unfair on BG. As this century the club have been terrible compared to its history. Comfortably finishing mid table 11-16th will be an acceptable season anything higher will be a big step forward for the club. If he can produce 2 seasons top 10 then that starts the club back in the direction it should be. Yes we would all love to win the league and it's always the hope every season. We have to be fair and realistic though.

We have to be fair and realistic though. Football moved on and Rovers stood still. Wigan, Hull, Swansea got new stadiums, Bournemouth and Brentford received substantial investment. Rovers have played in an outdated rugby ground whilst seeing every stadium attempt fail to materialise and renting a couple of pitches and changing rooms for a training ground. Hoping that the massive commitment from Wael in terms of removing the debt and building the training ground will mean Rovers can start moving with the times and competing towards the summit of League One once again.

I hope we stick with the young player plan in general and i don't mind if the team are a bit naive and have mixed results as long as i can see potential. Regarding the 2 experienced centre-backs i really hope they are as good as lockyer-craig and davies-craig-kilgour were for us because we have been strong in that area for quite a while.
The perceived issue with craig is that we played to deep because of him but he was a very clever defender. So hopefully we will push up from the back more and press our opponents like we did v sunderland as a normal way of playing.

Or...to put it another way - pre 1980 Sleeping Giant 1981-2000 Comatose Giant post 2001 Giant on constant life support * In moments of more self-deprecating accuracy replace the word ‘Giant’ with the word ‘Minnow’.

Reading were also a good comparison in size and football level . Not so for a while though , it's where the club need to be aiming at getting back to.

Yeah slightly different as the numbers of teams in the top 2 divisions was 22 each as well. Nottingham forest ,Norwich, reading,Watford, crystal palace ,Ipswich ,Bournemouth, bristol city ,Brighton and millwall were all in the 50/51 season div 3south. So not a walk over league.

If the salary cap is brought in this summer it's going to cause chaos for the bigger club's, if we continue to spend wisely whilst also keeping Kilgour & JCH then anything less than 10th will be a disappointment. Regardless why are posters trying to down play where we can finish, don't we all want to see Rovers win games and finish as high as we can? I doubt Wael's looking for a bottom half finish after spending upwards of £25m by next summer during the course of the season!!

This will likely to be our best chance of promotion (excluding the GC run) in a while. That was also unexpected, but the rest of the league will really be struggling financially so I expect us to take advantage of that.
I think we can all see what Ben & Wael are trying to build together. Even if that takes a few years, I’m ok with that - as long as we don’t struggle and we’re moving in the right direction

Ben Garner is building a new team, it may take a while as all new players have to settle. Don't let the expectations go too high, there will be a lot of big clubs in league 1. Mr Buckle?

Am i excited by the signings, yes. Am i getting carried away and think we will be challenging the automatic promotion spots, no not really.
That said, i do have a good feeling about next season that the style of football will encourage the stay away fans to return (current restrictions not with-standing) and the mood of negativity that seemed to exist at the Mem on match day is replaced by the excitement that used to make Saturdays special.
Dreaming like a school boy #UTG

I am excited, but trying to turn it more to cautious optimism. Things are looking really bright for us right now, and if we can't get excited now then when would we ever get excited?
We simply have to ensure that as a fanbase we don't let the excitement turn to despair if we don't start brilliantly. The team will need time to bed in, and we've seen with a lot of teams with a high turnover of quality players, that it's often not plain sailing. See Posh last season and the year before for recent examples, Bury several seasons ago for a catastrophic example, and us under Buckle as another.
Nevertheless, we have reasons to be optimistic, and I am really looking forward to this new era at the Gas!
Bring on the new season!
