Ben Garner is building a new team, it may take a while as all new players have to settle. Don't let the expectations go too high, there will be a lot of big clubs in league 1.

I have to agree - what happens on the training ground will decide where we finish next season. I feel it’s premature to start talking about a top 6 finish. We were undeniably a crap team last season under Ben Garner. On paper the signings he’s made look very good but like for like has it changed us from a team that would of been certs for relegation into a team challenging for a top 6 spot?. Josh Grant (untried at League1) has been brought in presumably to replace Ollie Clarke and either/or Emler and Baldwin to replace Tony Craig. We have also lost Liam Sercombe.! Hopefully Anssi & Hare will return as good as they were before their injuries. IMO, whilst they were performing well, Blackman was more than just an adequate replacement in goal. - we didn’t lose any matches through poor goalkeeping, that I can recall. Equally the two loanee wingers, were also good - hopefully Nicholson will be as good if not better.
The main issue we had and still have is the lack of creativity in midfield (not convinced Barrett is the answer yet) and someone alongside JCH who can score goals. We still have to hope that JCH can stay fit for most of the season.
The most important person next season will be Ben Garner and the training ground and whether he can get the players at his disposal playing the way his vision wants them to play and turn them into a winning team - I feel we have a way to go yet to expect to finish at the top end of the table. I’m looking forward to next season but my own expectation levels are not too high just yet.

These 'big' teams are in league 1 because they are not good enough for a higher league, with the squad Ben is putting together i fully expect to give any of them a game and beat some of them, i don't expect to romp away with the title but IMHO we will be competitive and good to watch and have a good season with a comfortable top ten finish, up the Rovers!

When DC was there he always talked about signing 'character' if we have done this and not signed journeymen, who could forget them a few years ago, then we have a chance. As in life money makes a difference, but it's not everything. Just look who got promoted this season and who didn't. Also we have a rookie management team who are gonna be up against the street wise from the lower leagues. Nothing is easy, I believe we'll need patience to succeed.

Why calm down? we have had so little to celebrate why not embrace every single piece of positive news and long may it continue

Exciting signings if they're as good as people are making out. All boils down to whether BG is actually going to be a good manager or not. Some encouraging signs towards the end of the season but let's just hope the players come round to his 'vision'

With a virtually new team from the previous season, one of the most important aspects is to gel the players to play as a team, for each other and as a unit. This takes time. The team and players we had in the Conference and for the next few seasons had great team spirit and togetherness built up from playing together for a while. It will take time to create such a unit. As regards other teams in the league, we can beat any team as long as the referees are fair. If JCH stays (give him a decent contract by maybe making one less signing?) and stays fit and plays > 66% of games / minutes, who knows what we can do. He is a great team player and can help with his performances by gelling the newer players together. More creativity in the middle; Barrett has got a great touch and control but needs to get fitter and make the middle his patch? Rodman should be given the backing to play as a more attack minded winger which is what he used to do when he started off for us. A little more speed but he does take up very intelligent positions when we attack which is how he scored quite a few goals for us.
We have the makings of a very good team. A free kick specialist would be a great bonus; our free kicks are usually terrible. One gets the impression that they are not pre-planned according to where they are relative to the other teams goalmouth?
Here’s to 2020 and a great 2021!

Some encouraging signs towards the end of the season but let's just hope the players come round to his 'vision' The new players appear to have already bought into his vision the remaining players will either have to buy in it or be shipped out/sit on the side lines. As far as calming given this is Rovers I doubt many fans are expecting us to be guaranteed playoff contenders but at least it's good to have a good positive summer for a change rather than spend all summer wondering if we're actually going to sign anybody of note.

The transfer window always felt like we left it to late and were left scavenging for leftovers, it felt like we were rummaging through the best before end of a supermarket, trying to pick out something cheap that had a bit of life left in it, its so refreshing to see quality purchases brought in early

Why can't we just be happy with our signings and excited for the new season for once? We've suffered endless years of cr4p, playing at the wrong end of league two going nowhere. Now the club are embarking on it's first infrastructure project in decades, debt free and there seems to be a real sense of purpose and togetherness among the club and fanbase. Positive times lie ahead for Rovers I sense.
As for Garner, he has new facilities, new signings and a new season to realise the ambitions he stated he wanted to achieve when he first joined the club. Yes, we had a poor, disappointing end to last season, but I'm willing to move on, take the positives from the Sunderland result and back the team going into the new season.

It's good to have something to get excited about for a change, I'll enjoy the moment, but I'm not expecting an overnight miracle when the season kicks off - these things can take time to come fruition.

We appear to be in our best financial state for years, maybe even decades. i believe th Coronavirus will effect clubs massively financially, crowd and mentally in th players minds. who will come out better?
It will be like shakin a snow globe an seeing where everyone falls, hopefully we will be one of th winners, but....in my opinion - expect th unexpected, its gonna be a very bizarre few years, we could end up in th championship, on th other hand we could end up back in th conference..

The transfer window always felt like we left it to late and were left scavenging for leftovers, it felt like we were rummaging through the best before end of a supermarket, trying to pick out something cheap that had a bit of life left in it, its so refreshing to see quality purchases brought in early I think that's the main thing, and pretty much the only thing that has really impressed me with Garner so far. As you say normally we leave signings right to the last minute, we are linked with targets who always join somebody else and then we usually end up with Plan F, rather than Plan A, B or C. Even in January, the players he brought in, Harries, Barrett and Daly were all highly thought of at their previous clubs and fit the mould of how BG want's to play. Now we have brought in Grant, Baldwin and Ehmer, who also seem to fit the mould, and we've got them in early too. It might just be the fact that we've got more funds to spend than previously, but still for me it's showing intent. Here's hoping for a good season, whenever it may start.

I'm buzzing for the season and can't wait to see what attacking signings have lined up because other than JCH we desperately lack a goal threat.
The defensive signings we've brought in should improve us and if we can add similar quality in other areas we could be in for a good season.
Having said that, it's worth remembering there are some big clubs in the division and it will be as competitive as always. Blackpool, for example, have just signed a striker for 200k+ and are reportedly trying to sign a winger for a six-figure fee.
I'm not getting carried away yet, but I am looking forward to what other business we're going to do and am already looking forward to the new season. Bring it on.

All this positivity is nice to see, isn't it?
I can't recall many, if any posts you could deem as negative over the last day or 2.
It makes a pleasant change, and a break from the norm with us, that's for sure
