Haughton is a likeable guy and it's hard to dislike him even if he becomes the next manager of them but when people say hes the proven man to get clubs out of the championship then I'm sorry but I don't agree. Hes been a number 2 for most of his non playing days and yes the brighton era was good but hes no proven manager when it comes to the likes of mick McCarthy and warnock. It's a good appointment but if trolls follows him then I can see their fans on his back before work has begun pretty embarrassing post.

I dislike it when a poster makes a condescending comment about someone's post. As it happens I don't completely agree with the original post, but we are here to have debates, not suppress them.

I guess I bit and felt the need to call out something which is demonstrably incorrect to anyone who is even slightly aware of Chris hughtons career to date.

I sat next to Hughton in the west stand when we played Watford in the league cup in 2011.... He was Birmingham's manager at the time and Watford were there next opponent.... I didn't even realise until my dad pointed it out....

Whenever I speak to my 82er mates, the main reason they disliked Johnson so much was that he was very rigid when it came to his tactics and that total commitment to discipline didn’t allow their creative players to flourish, provide the free flowing and attacking football they’d like to see and believe they had the players to push on with that creative mentality.
That’s a fair and valid viewpoint, but Hughton is the king of rigid tactics and discipline and I wonder how many of them have been sidetracked by the man himself and have completely forgotten his philosophy is very similar to his predecessor.
I for one would not be concerned if they appointed Hughton, as per the reasons above, I believe a lot of them we’ll be so happy with the name, but once the football begins it and they’re not squeaking boring 1-0 wins, it will finally hit home that they’ve actually just appointed an older Lee Johnson.

Yes my City mate hated both the Johnsons for the same reason. I believe Gary managed the only side who had more points than goals and did that twice. Personally with us I hated Atkins type of football and managers who play like that forget football is supposed to be entertainment. I don't envy the sheeds if it's more of the same even if they get success with it.

CH teams have a reputation for boring football to watch.

Yes al, I didn’t like Atkins’ football but he could spot a good player and he recruited very well for which PT was very grateful. And however much I disliked Atkins’ football it was still better than Graydon’s. UTG!

Posting "press embarrassing post" is fairly pointless on a forum unless you explain why you feel it's embarrassing, for me if CH is such a good manager that's he's apparently almost guaranteed to get City promoted, then why have the likes of 'boro, Huddersfield and Stoke etc all chosen to employ alternatives when CH has been looking for a job as I assume all 3 could afford to employ him. I assume he'll cost City a fortune to employ as he'll want to bring in all his coaching staff inc. PT plus most likely change half the squad around, as most new manager's always seem want to do.

Yes I agree he could spot one and how it changed when Lennie came in, welcome to roller coaster rovers.

Yep bound to cost them a fortune, but it's okay as Steve Lansdown can afford it. Meanwhile the other 'brand' under the Bristol City Holdings umbrella is making mass redundancies...
