We are at home to the Turkeys on New Years' Day. How many points will we have going into the match? We are currently on 34 points...... I guess 4 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss. Total = 49 points.

IF we don't sign a striker the only game we will win out of that lot is at home to Welling and even that will only be by a single goal.

I get your point but somehow we have managed to win a pretty high percentage of our games, without a potent striker. Being hard to beat is always giving us a chance to win. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that we can get through to January in pretty good shape and then strengthen. Maybe Monkhouse might make a difference when he comes back in too......

We've won 45% of our games so far. A sudden slump to 12.5% (1/8) seems a bit pessimistic.

But we've only won 1 in the last 4 from memory, so that's 25% win rate recently and unless DC solves our goal scoring problems shortly I can't honestly see things improving. Apart from Wellling & Macclesfield there all look very tough games.

We've only lost one of them though, while Chester, Torquay and Gateshead have all lost twice in their last four games.
Monsters can appear more frightening in anticipation than when they actually appear.

Although I wouldn't dismiss Macclesfield so easily - they're one place below us!

Monsters can appear more frightening in anticipation than when they actually appear. Said this to the wife only last night. I can smile about it now but at the time her response was a bit hurtful tbh....

Still on target for about 49 points by New Years' Day.... Mixed feelings. I would have been ok with 43 points at the start of those matches but after the first 2, 43 has been disappointing.

Still on target for your original prediction, Mr Cantankerous. Could even beat it.

I'd take the 49 now if offered (definitely 50). We are on for a top half finish but we need to get away from these bloody draws pronto.

49 points on New Years Day would keep us on target for a play off finish. A few decent signings in January and we could really push on.

Not too sure about wins and draws but we won't loose any. UTG!

It's obvious that to stay in contention we need at least a couple of new signings when the window opens...and it's easier to get the better quality ones if we're already the form team, already winning games, already showing our intent to hunt down Barnet...

Would anyone take the 49 points now which would mean 3 points out of the 2 games left before the Torquay home game? Personally I think over the games since this thread started that would be reasonable but Torquay away is the most important game this season so far. Why,because it is the next game and that is how we need to look at this season. Every "Next game" is the most important!!!

No. If we get three points from the last two then so be it, but all six is by no means a crazy dream.

We definitely play better in front of a decent crowd and against the teams that come at us so ......6 points out of 6
