Could JCH’s replacement be within the squad already? I’ve only seen and heard good things about this kid.
Thoughts?

He's not a striker.

He is still a bit raw to be talking about him being JCH's replacement yet but even so was mightily impressed of what I saw of him tonight. He's got trickery, an eye for a pass and quick feet, all the hallmarks of being a great winger in the future.

If you watched he collected most of his balls in-field. Whatever, he really is promising and I hope he makes the bench v Ipswich and then gets a full 90 v Walsall. UTG!

Actually reminds me of ol' snakey. Whether he be a striker or not. He likes to come deep to collect the ball and makes his way into the box when he can.

His goal record and all-round game tells me he definitely will be a striker in the years to come.

Why put such stupid pressure on a youngster by suggesting he could be JCH replacement, can't we just let youngsters develope w/o putting undue pressure on them.

This is why I take issue with our current situation. I don't for one second think that Ayunga, Daly, and the development players such as Zain Walker won't make it . I'm excited and encouraged by them. I've been impressed by Zain Walker particularly. If we put all our eggs in our current basket that's putting an astronomical amount of pressure on players who don't have many league appearances between them, and risks their development. We need at least one, preferably two proven goalscorers who can relieve that pressure and give them the time to develop at their own pace rather than being chucked in at the deep end. Scares me on the other thread that someone was saying Garner says he needs to appraise the squad first. I can't imagine that he's the GC/DC type that says one thing and means another.

Well, I think he's got till Oct 3rd to find the right player so he has time to see them play 5 or 6 games (if he can't get his player till late on in the window). As we know strikers often want tonnes of money and signing on fees even if they're bang average

Always give the team about 10 matches before getting too excited or too down. With a young player just out of the youth team/ development squad give him the season and hope he gets 10-15 games and we’ll know a lot more but it sounds like he had a good game. If he were to score a few goals and take any opportunities that come his way he could turn out a real gem. UTG!

He’s got talent and a coaching team that can nurture that talent. Let’s not stifle that by putting “The next....” label(s) on him and instead just sit back and enjoy his development. He made an EFL trophy start for us in November 2018 whilst still in the first year of his stint with the youth team which shows you the promise he’s got, he’s not the next anyone he’s the first Zain Walker.

Very talented, don't see him as a 9, more of an inside forward what ever that is in modern formations!

If we haven’t got an out-and-out striker in by Saturday I’d quite like to see Zain & Nicholson supporting JML in attack and have the three of them buzzing around each other & interchanging positions.
All three got plenty of pace, are clever footballers and can look after the ball with their quick feet.
Might be quite a difficult attack to defend against if we play it right.

Like the look of Walker but it's too soon to expect him to be a replacmenrt for JCH.
I think this will be his breakthrough season but most his appearances will come from te bench.

Sorry, but I absolutely expecting us to be signing a proven striker after selling JCH... if we are 10 games into the season and struggling to score goals we will absolutely deserve it. MUST bring someone in... and preferably NOT Stevie May, 13 goals in 3 years playing in Scottish football says it all.

Reminds me of Marcus Stewart at the same age.
Lot's of non football thing's to work through at that age - Women/beer/food but he could be the real deal.
Would Qualify by saying he is one of four junior's coming through could be first team regulars.

Stewart was an absolute stand out player immediately and became instantly undroppable, I hope Zain continues to develop but I think he’s a long way short of Stewart at the same age. I started watching Rovers in the early 80’s and Stewart was the biggest talent to come through the ranks by some distance. I see Zain as a bit part player this season, picking up minutes here and there any maybe getting starts in the Leland DAF.
