If it's a toss-up between MM and Trotman, then it has to be Trotman who stays. MM is probably on a much higher wage and Trotman is a player for the future. It's a no-brainer.

Whist NT has been our best defender we've hardly missed him in the 3.5 games he's been injured, bar McM's stupid penality, just saying if it was a straight choice between relying upon on our present strike force and keeping NT or not renewing his contract and getting in a striker with the wages we save would you let him leave? As i can't see McM leaving unless we are lucky enough to get a decent offer for him/his contract. In an ideal world we'd keep NT & get a striker or two but nothing is ever that straight forward at Rovers. Sorry but I disagree with this. We could still have been in the FA Cup if Trotman was playing instead of Macca, Trotman would probably have cleared that Kidderminster cross on the weekend with his head. Alfreton, we didn't have much to deal with so probably didn't miss him then. But I like the way Trotman attacks the ball. He is a very good defender. Can't you read something you've highlighted? I said bar McM stupid penality apart from that Tranmere never looked like scoring, given everybody accepts Parkes lost his man on Saturday I can't see McM can take the blame for Kiddy's goal. Regardless I'm not sayuing NT's not the better player just whether we need him & McM possibly at the expense of a striker, as I can't see McM going anywhere this season, it's just a point to debate not whose the better defender.

It's not a point to debate because Trotman has been our best player so why would we want to lose our best player? Yes I can read. Trotman has only been missing for the games and 2 of them I think he could have influenced the result so your point about not missing him doesn't stand up.

Trottman has been our best player so far this season. In order to be successful in football you need to keep your best players and replace the poorer ones with better ones. We haven't done this the last few years , we have been relegated twice.

No we've been relegated because we haven't scored enough, offering another contract to a defender won't solve our goalscoring problems. If, and it's a big if, money is tight I'd sooner we sign an Easter or Tubbs than offer Trotman another contract.
