If anyone on here remembers Howard Radford our Welsh goalie from the 50's he is 90 today. He was my boyhood hero a great goalie in the time we had a succession of them. Happy birthday Howard utg.

I remember him well and met him a couple of times, a really nice bloke who always had time for a chat. He was a good keeper and if he'd been a couple of inches taller could have been a great keeper. At his peak he was very close to a full Welsh cap. Happy birthday Howard.

I remember Howard well. He ran our local pub the 'Ring of Bells' and I witnessed him scoring a hat-trick for our local club in an evening Berkely Hospital Cup match. Lovely to hear that he is 90 today. brfpa.org.uk/profile-howard-radford/

Was the Rovers goalkeeper when I first saw them as a young boy. Had a lovely chat with Howard at the Geoff Bradford book signing a few years ago. A great sense of humour and quite happy to recall stories from the past with the likes of Josser and Harold etc in attendance. I wish him a very happy birthday and many more of them.

Great Keeper.Wore the then traditional roll neck Green jersey. Also featured in the pre season cricket matches.Saw him at Broad Walk cricket ground.Remember giving him a cigar through the coach window after we'd won at the Dell.Bobby Jones debut season I think.

A good long standing friend of mine Johnny watkins speaks well of howard. John played for city and rovers in the 1950's and told me recently that he was the only surviving player from the city team of the mid 50's. John played in the top division for cardiff city before joining rovers in exchange for dai ward and money payed by cardiff city a transfer he had no say in.

Great character is john he played for, managed and now watches shirehampton fc to this day. Until recent knee operations he could still hit a ball hard with his left foot.
