Ben is staying and you have been included in his coaching setup. He will listen to what you have to say and take note and maybe even go with it... so what would you do? What formation, what players? What tactics and why? (You can even suggest your additions to the squad and assume that they want to come and play for the gas if you feel necessary.)

I'd tell him to ignore the fan base as they have ridiculous expectations. They expect a team with mostly new players coming from a far from ideal pre-season due to Covid-19 to be fully fit and playing like world beaters before the League campaign even starts.
I'm sure he is doing that already.

C'mon guys - spose to get an insight of what you would do... if you firmly in the give Ben and the guys time to gel camp then what team would you set up for saturday? If you aren't so keen, how would you set up for saturday and beyond?
Let's get away from attacking each other for opinions and share how you see the game being played. I am really interested to look at your set ups, also interested in your realistic transfer targets

Obviously Garners stats as a whole don't inspire confidence, but THIS SEASON, we have lost 1 and drew 1.
I didn't see the game last night and whilst I am sure there were all the negatives, I haven't seen anyone mention the positives. We did score 2 and they were 2 very well worked goals
There is always room for improvement, but can we at least get the first Dam league game out of the way

We lost to Ipswich, we all expected this. A team containing a lot of young players who looked good got a draw against a reasonably strong Walsaw side. We lost on pens with our second choice keeper in. I fully expect we will be lucky to take much from our first few difficult league games. I would tell him to look for the positives, not panic and see how we are doing after 10 games.

We haven't played a minute of league football yet. We're out of the League Cup to a good league 1 team and we drew in the cup that nobody (normally) cares about and people are acting like it's the end of the world. Chances are we will lose again in the next few games, that's how football works. We should give it a few months at the absolute minimum. If his record continues as it was last season (it won't) then we can react, and get someone in before January. If it improves (it will), then we can make a reasonable, fair call on how happy we are and whether we want to continue with BG.

In the Carabao Cup teams were losing to clubs 1 or 2 Divisions below them which always happens in the 1st Round. Last night some clubs were losing to U21 teams which always happens in this competition, probably because nobody really give a f*ck about it. It's funny how all of a sudden certain fans care about this sh** competition, fans have been "boycotting" it for years and barely 1k would of even turned upto it in normal circumstances.

What tactics and why? (You can even suggest your additions to the squad and assume that they want to come and play for the gas if you feel necessary.) Start with a striker for a start, like last night. Didn't watch it but Ayunga scored and people have said he did ok. We still need to bring in another striker though obviously. If he's going to continue with a back 3 I would player Ehmer in the middle and Kilgour on the right of it. As Ehmer gets caught out for pace out wide and Gillinghams fans have said he is best when Central and he looked good in the middle during pre season. Kilgour is not comfortable on the left especially when receiving the ball. I would probably play Harries on the left and leave Baldwin out. Although on Saturday he would be up for the game and could have a blinder to try and prove a point. Personally I would switch to a back 4 and go 433 and put Upson into the middle to help Grant and Westbrooke and to give us that experience in the middle. Nicholson and JLM should by the wide of the front three. JLM is not a striker and is more effective running at player's and coming from deep. With Annsi back in goal we can push slightly higher up the pitch and press higher, so that will hopefully make a big difference. Force the opposition to go more direct and win the ball back further to the pitch.

Probably suggest he try 4-3-3. Hare, Kilgour, ehmer, Leahy Westbrook, Grant, upson Nicholson, Agunya, JML Cheers bud, I always thought that BG was a fan of the 433 and wondered if, because we have so many defenders wanted the 343 to work out, still reckon it could in time with alot more confidence but I am leaning towards your suggestion of 4 at the back I have seen a lot of people slating Leahy on the forums, what made you pick him over Kelly or Dave may i ask? I like your set up tho

Agunya has certainly staked a claim for the front man role, which he does exceptionally well. We need Upson's experience in midfield and I'm sure Ogogo would fit in to defensive midfield if he does the things he's good at and plays the simple ball out.

3-4-2-1 for me. Not sure of the back 3 as I haven't seen enough games to judge the new players, but I guess Ehmer (as he's been made captain) and Kilgour will be 2 of them. Probably Baldwin the 3rd (has the experience) Leahy and Little (go for experience here too) wing backs , Grant and Westbrooke in the middle. Nicholson and JML supporting Ayunga.

Probably suggest he try 4-3-3. Hare, Kilgour, ehmer, Leahy Westbrook, Grant, upson Nicholson, Agunya, JML with the 3 in midfield - who's going to play on the left ? They're all mainly right -footers or are you advocating playing narrow through the middle ?
