After that abysmal performance for God sake get back to a good old fashioned back four and two strikers. I was not impressed by Ipswich but more that we made them look better than they were. There is no point playing wingbacks who dont have an attacking instinct in them and picking three centre backs just because we have so many of them! Kilgour is looking absolutely terrible and Leahy couldn't make a forward pass to save his life.To add to this Upson and Westbrooke are wasted together as they both need to be in the same position. At the moment Grant looks totally lost and it is worrying that Hanlon couldnt finish as easy a chance as he would get all season. It is like watching a John Ward side all over again but the only consolation is that Covid 19 prevents us from attending! If we are going to lose lets at least go down attacking. My team would be
Jaakola
Little Ehmer Baldwin Harries
Rodman Westbrooke New Signing Nicholson
Ayunga Hanlon
I would look for another Striker as well. (Preferably one who knows where the net is!!

Not going to happen mate. Garner has his philosophy and he will not change it. Long live Garnerball

Don't like the sound of that back four whatsoever, wouldn't play Harries out of position and Baldwin hasn't filled me with confidence so far either. For me Tutonda and Hare should get the opportunity to start, both have the creativity to make things going forward as well as the legs to get back and defend.
Agree with the two strikers and four at the back approach though with what we have, just can't see Garner adopting it.

Harries is IMO the best of poor options at left back. He was let down today by Leahy who provided no help whatsoever and when ever Harries passed the ball to Leahy he passed the bloody thing back to him.

I would put Hare ahead of Little and bring Ogogo back into the fold to add strength and determination! Mitchell Lawson had an off day today but I would still start him

Is ogogo even registered?spine of the team usually shows how good a team is. At the moment it's just the keeper.

So I guess he is registered DC said yesterday neither Ogogo nor Bennett are registered. I don't really understand why the former isn't considered good enough to play for a bottom 4 side when last season he helped us to being a top 4 side. I also can't understand why Hare is so out of favour when we was outstanding before his injury, I can't recall Little putting one cross today. Oh for the days of GC again and his fixed 4-4-2 formation.

It seems the midfield is ok with time on the ball but you very rarely get that privilege in this division unless you have a quality ball winner and in there giving you that luxury

Oh for the days of GC again and his fixed 4-4-2 formation. After the first couple of games last season we played 3-5-2 pretty much every game under GC. And that is the proof that 3 at the back isn't the issue and that we don't have to revert to a back 4 as SteveK suggests to succeed. I think the issue is more fundamentally with the style of play as we seem confused on whether we are a possession-based or a long-ball team.

I said in another thread that after 60 minutes we should have gone with a back 4.
But I think San Marino have a better chance of winning the world cup then Garner going with a 4-4-2

Baldwin got to be better than the current form shown by Kilgour. He is an absolute liability at the moment.

Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic spring to mind. It’s not the tactics or the system, it’s more about the players not believing in the manager. They’ll all act as if they do and say all the right things but in truth the passion and the belief just aren’t there. It’s why Alfie is a hollow shell of last season’s performer. It’s why JCH couldn’t get out of there quick enough. It’s why Ollie couldn’t wait to join Coughlan at Mansfield. They don’t believe that Garner has the necessary tools to make his project work. This explains why we are not as fit as we should be. It’s a mental block with each performance bringing a new low. It’s not going to change, why would it?

Worry is with 2 strikers the midfield would be even weaker with the players we have there at present.
Both up top would then see the odd ball fly over their heads every so often after a hoof from the centre backs
