I thought Brandon put a real shift in yesterday. He won the ball back with sheer determination and then got and scored the pen. He will soon be a fans favourite if he continues with that attitude and effort imo.

Agree with o p.
He's done it before, and to make such an impressive start is very encouraging.
He can be unplayable at times when running in on goal, and can take a dead ball shot viciously.
I really feel he needs a strike partner to bring the best out of him, and play a two up front..

When he scored, one of the cardboard cutouts went absolutely mental, knocking over another cut out on his way to storming the Thatchers end, spilling his pint and dropping his cardboard pasty.

He's a rough diamond but is really impressive. Strong muscular hold up play and a physical presence, good turn of pace, skills and unpredictability and generally pretty good all round intelligent play. Sharpen up the final shot consistency and with a solid run in the team he will be a 15-20 goal man. Agree that he needs the right players around him and I thought Daly was a great foil yesterday with lots of harassing forcing errors that allowed the service to be played to Hanlan. As a unit I thought our forward play was very good

Really like the look of Hanlan.
His end product definitely needs some work but he must be a nightmare to defend against. Reminds me a bit of Antonio at West Ham.
Lots more to come from him, I reckon.

Were always tempted to compare strikers to those that have previously lead the line and I'll join in. I think Elis was stronger but in getting that strong I think Elis lost a touch of pace. Never slow just not scary quick. I see Hanlon more similar to Ellington because his dribbling technique is similar.

I said yesterday on the match thread that he reminds me of a cross between Ellington and Hayles. Just to add that I am not saying he is as good as them but he just reminded me of them yesterday.

This. Having JCH in the team would have put some frighteners on the opposition. May have given us some phycological advantage. Think if other teams seen Hanlan's performance yesterday, this may have done the same.

Think JCH and Hanlan would have made a brilliant partnership, JCH looked good for posh in the highlights, but Ayunga and him may be decent, would try it at oxford.

I actually think we have a gem on our hands. Still young, time to get better. His great hold up play and strength make me think hey would benefit from a partner but not often you see just the two up top these days.

I probably missed it but does anyone know why Ayunga was not involved yesterday in the squad?

Hannah had a really good game. Looks comfortable at this level already and has bags of potential. Interestingly, the reaction to him on the Northampton fans forum was that he was a cut above anything they faced last season in L2.

Oops meant Hanlan. Predictive text isn't always wonderful.

I thought Brandon was fantastic and a real menace up front, he drags defenders all over the place and creates space for others to run into - hence getting the right strike partner for him is so important. I'd like to see JML or Nicholson alongside him in that two. Daly has good energy but I feel in terms of pace and dribbling he's just not quite there yet.

For me he also gave the message that hard work and determination is required along with technical ability.
