Well we haven't a clue if this side now will answer our goals scored drought but we must be the envy of most Conference sides.Ok Forest Green and Eastleigh have more cash but do they honestly have a better squad? One thing i wondered but can Della Verde's deal be extended or will we have to wait until January? Personally I would go for Mildenhall
Lockyer Parkes McCrystal (Trotman-if fit) Brown
Balanta Mansell Sinclair Delle Verde
Blissett Taylor
Subs Goldberg Preston Harrison Monkhouse Clarke
Even this will still leave Trotman and Puddy injured and no place for Gosling, Leadbitter,Brunt and Martin. Certainly some tough decisions for Clarke and wouldnt be surprised to see a couple out on loan next week.

Hi Steve,
Do you mean Mansell has to step or we need someone coming in for him ?
I am more hopeful with these two forward signings - looking at the clips and reports. I would also start with Blisset and Taylor. for me the problem area is wide right. Balanta won't play tomorrow - he's hardly played in months. Also can't see him playing wide right - when he arrived he was labelled wide left player or CF ( being left footed).
I am scratching my head why we now have so many left footed attacking players at the club but no one in my eyes who is a natural wide right player. Balanta, LDV, Martin, Gosling and Monkhouse are all chiefly left footers !??
The only one who I've seen play wide right effectively was Sinclair (a couple of times) but I also understand why you think he should play in the middle - gives us bite, plays it simple. Finally, I think Taylor has to get his scoring boots on regularly - or I think Goldberg should be given 2/3 games before his loan runs out. The lad can really finish - if you look at his goals for Bromley a year ago.
Anyway reason to hope we will score more - let's hope we can play more flowing., on the deck footy - like our goal v Kiddie !

This is what I've been saying, LDV is massively better on the left then on the right as I think all of our wide men would be and Balanta will be, I'd like us to sign a right footed winger. I think our CM's would be fine if they didn't play so deep, Mansell is capable of taking control of the midfield and passing it around, just needs to push up and do it

Three points - if Goldberg is (officially) only here for a month, hadn't we better get him in ASAP? How else can he show what he can do?
Secondly, LDV was ripping into Kidderminster from the start on Saturday, beating people inside but also putting over good balls from wide (especially one which Dave Martin should have scored with). That was first half, when he was on the right. I think he can do it anywhere on the pitch.
Thirdly, I'd like to see MT just behind the front two, but don't ask me who I'd drop because I don't know!

If he can hack it on the right it would really give us threats on both sides. I did see though his cross for the equaliser was in 2nd half when he was on the left. Balanta surely won't start on left - not ready , so it's poss a toss up between Martin, Gosling and Monkhouse - I would like to see gosling having a chance to use his tasty left foot actually on the left for a few games. What do you think Kylegas ?

I still think we need shoring up in the centre. Not sure the new forwards can do much with acres of empty space behind them.

I would much rather see Trotters than McChrystal. What will DC do seeing as McChystal is captain? (thought that was the wrong choice of captain right from the start)

Out of LDV, Monkhouse, Martin and Gosling I think LDV is the best on the right, but what he offers on the left far exceeds anything on either flank from anyone, for me he has to play on the left, but given that everyone is a leftie I don't think it matters which side he starts on cuz the wingers will continually swap sides throughout the game

Hi Mark, A great reply with some good points.
Do you mean Mansell has to step or we need someone coming in for him ? - I am unconvinced with Mansell and Sinclair partnership though both have their plus points and negative points but I really feel we need somebody in the central midfield that really controls the pace of the game, wants the ball and is capable of holding on to it and creating. If we could get such a player I believe even now we could walk this League. Perhaps we would have to change to a midfield three with the new player and Sinclair with Mansell holding behind thereby losing one of the wingers and playing 4-3-3 or at home playing with both wingers and three at the back.
Balanta won't play tomorrow - he's hardly played in months. - I tend to agree with you but personally I would play him as I feel he would give us quality. Whether he can play on the right I don't know but most wingers can play both sides but instead of going outside will cut in and I reckon this will suit Balanta as he can play as a striker so probably would be very dangerous cutting in. LDV can play right but I think he is more dangerous on the left providing those beautiful crosses he provided in the second half
I am scratching my head why we now have so many left footed attacking players at the club but no one in my eyes who is a natural wide right player- Good point I agree with you.The strange thing is that most clubs are crying out for left footers and we have loads!!!
As regards Goldberg/Taylor I am going totally against my own principles here because I always believe you should sign loan players to PLAY them BUT Taylor having come on and scored last week may have increased his confidence and to leave him out may ruin the boost he would have. I would give him the half to see how he plays and then if necessary bring Goldberg on at Half time or just after and give him a run of games.
My biggest worry is that we won't be able to extend Delle Varde's loan. Regards

in an ideal world we would sign a playmaker but maybe balanta could play that role?

Ollie Clark, mansell and Sinclair are all to good to be left out the starting 11 but all 3 can't play together

I'll tell you one thing, our bench is going to be the strongest for a long time, especially with room for only 4 outfield players.

Ollie Clark, mansell and Sinclair are all to good to be left out the starting 11 but all 3 can't play together sadly true. i think the beard and Clarke are wasted out wide although i guess of the 3 the beard's crossing and attacking play will make him the best bet if necessary.

Steve - you told us all a few weeks ago we had the best team in the league! How could you lie to us?! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Joking aside I agree with your assessment. Provided the strikers turn out to be good additions, we now have a side DEFINITELY capable of finishing in the playoffs IMO.

I think an excellent midfield acquisition would be the lad from woking. He had an ecclesiastical name, Pope, Bishop, something like that. Thought he looiked class when they played against us and he ran the midfield that afternoon.

Not sure the new forwards can do much with acres of empty space behind them. i know youve mentioned this on several threads but what do you actually mean by "shoring up in the centre"? Well like I said: If you watch the play there is a consistent space in the centre of the park pretty much throughout the game. There's a huge blob at the back in front of the keeper and then two tramlines down the flanks which are closed down quite quickly. Service from the centre through the opposition back line to the forwards is virtually non-existent, it all goes over the top or in to touch from the wings. We need someone who can sit in the middle and pick out a pass to the forwards, or spot possible opportunity for movement round the back and who can break up play from a counter attack - a Scholes or Gerrard or, as unpopular as he became, O'Toole when he first arrived.

Also their nickname is the Cardinals. Religious bunch.
