With the new squad size restrictions, could a lot of experienced player's find themselves stuck not playing??
I'm surprised that Ogogo hasn't found a club. The only thing I can think of, is that clubs are less likely to loan in player's over 21, if they already have enough players on their books. Clubs can fill up there squads with player's under 21 etc to boost numbers.

Feel really sorry for Abu, I hope he is able to sort something soon! Either we let him leave for free or he gets a loan to a top conference side!

We've no real idea what's going on with Ogogo, for all we know he could be content just to run his contract down whilst collecting his £x a week salary.
As far as feeling sorry for him, would any of us be too upset to collect his salary whilst improving our golf handicap etc knowing that we'll probably have no problems getting a new contract next summer?

I usually do point the same fact that I'd be happy to collect my cheque. Just thinking though, it must be disheartening to say the least to be a professional footballer - in a finite career - and not be playing. I'm sure he'd rather be on the pitch! Saying that, if the pay is massively off the mark and you've got a year or 2 at twice the pay for example, it's a hard decision. Money isn't everything in this world, but it is a lot of it!

Regarding Ogogo, maybe there's a problem we (the public) don't know about to help progress his career in a different direction?
Such as health or mental health?
Perhaps the club as a duty of care have relieved him of playing duties to recover or seek rehabilitation etc..
I don't know, just putting it out there because he is good enough to offer his services elsewhere, and I'm sure any agent can find him another club..

True but he would have got paid the same if he went on loan though. He might not want to move etc though, but most player's would want to play if they were his age. Sam Frost seemed to think he was looking for another club. Personally I think the squad limit will, could stop a lot of clubs from signing player's over 21. If they have the maximum amount already, then they couldn't bring in anyone else, unless they are under 21. Maybe that's not the case with Ogogo. But I can see it effecting a lot of player's in the future.

It's a strange one as Abs never gave anything less than 100% for us and IMHO was worthy of a squad place. However as others have said perhaps there are circumstances we are not aware of , regardless i wish him all the best and good luck in whatever direction life takes him.

Just left the Beehive on Wellington Hill, there's a regular we know as Mc Ginty's goat, he was telling me he has been doing some contract work at the Mem and the training ground requested by some billy big bollocks whose an ex copper working for the club. Billy big bollocks says that Ogogo is on £3000 a week, not allowed anywhere near the training ground, hasn't trained since last April. turns up at the Mem everyday, loafs around for an hour or two and every Saturday, win draw or lose at 4.55 pm is £3000 better off right through to July 30th 2021. Good luck Abu, the club can sign 14 new players but can't find a home for you, good business that, I think we could do with you Abu digging a few out in the middle of the field rather than these pit a patter non shavers in the team at the moment.

Maybe he had the chance to drop down a division with a pay cut. However, with the current climate, he could then be out of a job in a few months. So maybe he is just taking the security of the higher pay staying with us, despite not playing? Its a safer option. I guess ideally, he would have liked a loan move somewhere so he could carry on playing and earning the same wage.

Oh, so Abs has taken over the much vaunted Bennett Mantle for some. Again, he’s another player that has done absolutely nothing wrong and in my opinion could bring a lot to the squad.

Totally agree. The notion of comparing Bennett and Ogogo is ludicrous. For whatever reason Ogogo is simply out of favour. I don't know what that reason is. It's a shame really because he was fully committed to the cause and was a very effective player in a somewhat limited role. I hope he finds another club and thrives there.
