You can see how people judging players based on their pure guesses could create and cause harm among the image of professional players. Mental health is a serious issue, I would suggest that we don't suggest players may have depression etc. without fact I'm not suggesting a specific player has depression. I'm just opening people's eyes as to how these things can happen. Its weird because it sounded like you were guessing that Abu lived with JCH which meant that JCH's new wage, that you've guessed, meant that you might guess that he was suffering with depression because you guessed that he was struggling to make it as a professional footballer

There are many different facets to a midfielder’s game. If you wanted a player to run half the length of the pitch and put in a last ditch goal saving block you could do a lot worse than select Abs for that role. If you wanted someone to put in a tigerish tackle and lay the ball off simply again he was right up there. Probably wouldn’t be top of your list for a pop at goal, having managed just three in the quarters...but the one at Shrewsbury will live long in the memory! What I will say is that I was never disappointed when I saw his name on the team sheet as I knew if he was found lacking it wouldn’t be for the want of trying...something I couldn’t honestly say about Quinn, Hyde, Savage and Hunt to name but four examples of players that could go missing. Good luck Abs, hope this is the start of a career upturn. I m sure you won’t have any trouble re-establishing a good rapport with the Daggers fans.

Mixed emotions over this one ,pleased Abs will be playing again but what a waste! hope he gets noticed soon and gets back to league, also not particularly happy with the way he has been treated by Rovers UNLESS there's stuff we are not privy to , good luck Abs and thanks for the effort. Not sure about that. I guess he was on a fair whack and with the new wage cap BG clearly felt the money could be used better elsewhere. Rovers made it clear he was available months ago so he and his agent have had a fair amount of time to find another club. Why it has taken so long is a mystery as he is a good player with the right attitude as far as I know. I would have expected him to find a club in L2. Surprised Mansfield or similar didn't come for him. Maybe a wages issue or perhaps some underlying fitness issue?. Guess we will never know.

With covid around and so many players being released and meany clubs having smaller squads, it is a sign of the times that a hard working player of league 1/2 standard can only find football in a struggling National League team. Best of luck Abu you made a big impact in the defensive part of our midfield when you joined us. But different Manager, different style, different players needed, it certainly wasn't down to lack of work rate or ability that you have been left out the team and had to move on.

I think he has been treated very poorly by us.
I dont see a better defensive midfielder at the club and I'm mystified as to why he was frozen out.
Good luck Ogogo. You deserved a lot better than we gave you.

Abu was probably on decent money I suspect he would not go for any deal which left him financially compromised. I still think we should kept him at the club as a regular first team start.

I never understood the love-in for him. Nowhere near as good as Ollie C. All players find their level and the fact that he is now two divisions below us speaks volumes I suspect, even in these difficult times. But all the best to him. And I’ll happily eat my words if he moves back to a league one club in the next window or two.

Completely different type of player than Ollie Clarke for me but both decent at League One level nonetheless. Personally thought Ogogo was a bit one-dimensional in terms of what he offered but definitely serves a purpose in a different type of system. Wish him luck at Daggers, he'll be back in the Football League before long I'm sure.

I thought that he was just using that scenario to illustrate how quickly the life of a footballer can change, and that, inevitably, there will be some who have difficulty coping if they are in this situation. The life of a lower league footballer isn't always as gilded as many people seem to think.

It was probably best for both him and us that it was made clear early on in the summer that he didn’t fit what Garner was trying to implement so he could find himself a new club.
Better than leaving him out the matchday squad with no explanation. At least Garner was open and honest about it. No-one batted an eyelid when he did the same thing to Bennett.

That's because Ogogo would put more effort into a sub display than Bennet mustered in his whole time with us.

The life of a lower league footballer isn't always as gilded as many people seem to think. The key difference there is that you haven't mentioned a mental illness, which is what I took exception to. The original post, on a thread about a specific player, mentioned depression and then a list of potential reasons they could have to be suffering with depression. The inference is there, whether deliberate or not. And I don't think that's appropriate at anytime but especially when it's completely baseless.

I see Ogogo played 80 minutes today for Dagenham who won and are now in the 1st Round of the FA Cup. I wonder if Rovers inserted a clause in the loan that he can't play against Rovers in any competition whilst on loan. Can't see Dagenham contributing much either to his £3000.00 a week wage packet. Good luck to the boy, we probably could do with an enforcer at Rochdale next week.

You deserved a lot better than we gave you. How has he been treated poorly though? New manager came in, had a look at him but then told him (long enough ago for him to sort out another club) that he wasn't part of his future plans. Part and parcel of a change of manager. I dont think we have a player who can do what he can do well, but thats up to BG.
