Thanks 1883. First impressions: Jaakola in 13th place means that we’re fairly good at keeping attacks from making our keeper work too hard. Although as his saves from the penalty area are fewer we either keep strikers at a distance or he’s not as good close in. I’d say well done to the defence but am happy to be corrected.
Ehmer and Harries doing ok for clearances, Harries high for tackles, perhaps it’s not so pretty as everyone’s saying at times and our defence is defending.
I’ve always thought Hanlan works hard and gets fouled an dthese show he’s very much targeted for fouls, and those are just the ones given. He will be struggling at Christmas. Recruit attackers in January!!
ZW good passer, we all know that and if key passes are those creating stuff he’s doing well. Needs more around him.
Attackers are struggling for shots and goals, not necessarily their fault.
UTG!

Thanks for kicking this off warehamgas mate
Yeah I think the shots is a concern for me too, it might start further back but if we can create a half space then take on the shot I think we might surprise ourselves a bit when the go in or the likes of Nicholson / Daly get on the loose ball from the block or save etc
Interceptions is one that struck me as a possible concern... is that a stat based on intelligence / reading the game etc. Cutting out that pass and getting on the front foot etc - we are far far down that list which may go hand in hand with experience (or lack of) in our young team.
I think Hanlan has a lot of love and rightly so on here and it was interesting to see him up there with the likes of Dembele for dribbles, fouled and dispossessed. The skill is there but maybe he is used to playing the support striker or wide man like at Gillingham that it's a bit more difficult as the number nine role? Wonder what it would look like with Ayunga (when fit) at the role 9 and Hanlan at 10 role...
All quite interesting

4 Peterborough players in the most shots table - that's a lot of fire power - witnessed last night. They've gone 8 games unbeaten. Lost 2 -0 first game of season when Dembele and Brown were out with Covid.

I like to watch Leeds pressing to give me an idea of what top end press is like and I see quite often the stuff that we do (across the back three etc) and even into midfield and instantly back to the defense. The difference is with Leeds they have their CMs a bit more comfortable on the ball and often when they get the ball they turn their man and drive forward - I saw Zain do it in the first 20 mins yesterday and a couple of times in other matches and you can also include Nicholson against Rochdale as an example, when driving like that the pitch seems to open up before them and panic sets in for those they are running at.
This might be just what we need to start getting these shots off. Penetrate through driving with the ball as apposed to always trying that wonder pass. With a driving midfield and a couple of decent lay off / one two passes we could easily create shooting chances I reckon. And its a numbers game from then on... take a load of shots and you may get a poor conversion rate but you are likely to score IMO

These stats are the reason we signed Westbrooke, Ehmer, Harries and why we were all exited by them signing but it is fair to say there performances while ok have been underwhelming and have been at times criticized, goes to show the stats do not tell the whole story, as for Hanlan the stats do confirm what a busy and industrious player he is for us and IMHO our best signing of the bunch, so far.

I guess an added bonus to Saturdays result is that we can maybe put the start of the season and stats like these behind us and move on.... Not saying that a swallow makes a summer, but if tiz can get a return of 1.3 -1.5 pts per game from now then boom....

5 goals in 14 appearances for Hanlan this season so far, that averages out at about 18 goals in league one over the course of a full season not too shabby really.
Scored 2 in cup competitions so far as well.
