While rummaging through what serves as my man cave ( a cupboard!) came across a copy of ' The Black Arab'(Sept2008)which to the young on here was an alternative match day read, among the topics were ' collapse of stadium rebuild and move to Cheltenham' , debate on 'sacking manager after poor start to season', how times change eh! oh hang on a minute sounds familiar!, any ex contributors on here? EG a 'Gas Ed' was a contributor , think this was the latest of other rags like Trumpton Times ' always a good entertaining read. memories of this or any other rags anyone?

I remember my (totally awful) Bristol Rovers website being listed with a few others in "The 2nd of May" fanzine back in the 90's. I was quite pleased at the time

The Black Arab from what I can recall was a Fanzine. Very ripe at Rovers between the late 80's until the mid 90's
I still have loads of them somewhere. The first ones I bought were called The Gashead

I think it was John Kay along with Marshy that started it all off

The black Arab was decent, always enjoyed that one.... The gashead during the twerton days was just plain daft. I remember the picture of a city fan with an inflatable banana with the quote 'fruit and vegtable'.... Still liked it a lot though....

I think The Gashead was the first one we had, great memories of going up the slope at the side of Gateway and passing John at the top with his t-shirts and fanzines. I wrote an article on racism, which John published. Black Arab was a good one, Bernie who used to run the Young Pirates was involved with this, I think. 2nd of May was a good read, although I didn't always agree with the views they had on the club.

You're absolutely right about where you bought it.... Twerton match day= Train to Oldfield park Twerton chippy Attempt to buy gashead fanzine whilst holding a bag of chips Attempt to buy official programme whilst holding bag of chips and fanzine
