Walsall lost in the PJ Trophy tonight, so next week's winner qualifies for the round of 32.

Noticed Fleetwood beat Sunderland - not sure what sort of lineups they both put out though.

Think I read both teams made about 8 changes to their last fixture

I personally would like to progress in this tournament to give the 'other' players some competitive minutes so they can really start knocking at the door of the first team. For example I know he is 'not fit enough' but what an opportunity for Josh Barrett to show what he could do for us.
---------------JvS------------------- Hare-----Kilgour-----Ehmer----Kelly ----Mehew-----Liddle-----Upson ------Hargreaves---Barrett----------- ----------------Daly-----------------
Above would give a few lads an opportunity but would it be good enough to beat Chelsea? Also you would think that McCormick would like to play against Chelsea
More likely be... ---------------JvS------------------- ----Kilgour-----Baldwin----Kelly----- --Hare-----Mehew-----Upson-----Leahy-- -------McCormick----Hargreaves---------- ----------------Daly-----------------

Agree with Goodnight, think this cup has become very important for fringe players, how else will they get meaningful game time in order to stake there claim for first team and make progress in there careers?

I assume Mehew couldn’t play due to his loan but would be good to see more of the other fringe players.

They wanted him too though for sure but with the right club that plays out from the back i think i recalled.

Von 'Dodgeball' Schittshott, Kelly, Leahy are not good enough and it's criminal that we only have Daly as a striking option. I would hope to see Mitchell - Lawson get some game time and I think Tutonda and Grant should stretch their legs as well. It's there to progress would be a shame to blow it so hoping we go for it.

How can Kelly & Leahy not be good enough to play Chelsea's U23's in an EFL Trophy match, as far as JVS given that he's playing v Fleetwood he should be good enough for this match.

You are probably right (I read something about players going out on loan ages ago and just assumed he had). Would be good to see him getting more game time wherever that is as he looks a good prospect.

Agree... want some pressure on Josh Grant and Mehew I belive is suited to that role - I think he will play that EFL game if he is still with us as he has scored in both the other 2 games and will deffo be hungry to do it again even in his defensive midfield role

If nothing else, progress in this competition would generate income. If there is a viable vaccine and they allowed fans back for the final, imagine how many Gas would go to Wembley after being starved of footie for the best part of a year. That would go a long way to helping the club and Wael out, for he's the one financing and guaranteeing our survival.

Even the BBC and Sky apps aren't bothered with this cup. I was bored and tried to find out the scores and neither app had them. Eventually they did have the results but you had to click on each game to find out. They didn't show the line-up. The only good thing about it is it gives managers an opportunity to play different formations/players because no-one cares about the results.

It's a competition the manager should commit to letting non regular starters play in. However there are rules I believe about having to have a certain number of first team players play. Imagine getting to Wembley and missing out on the income that would normally bring.
